6. Modeling and assessment of human balance and movement disorders using inertial sensors
Sammanfattning : Inertial sensors and magnetometers are abundant in today's society, where they can be found in many of our everyday electronic devices, such as smart phones or smart watches. Their primary function is to measure the movement and orientation of the device and provide this information for the apps that request it. LÄS MER

8. Bootstrapping Named Entity Annotation by Means of Active Machine Learning
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development and in-depth empirical investigation of a method, called BootMark, for bootstrapping the marking up of named entities in textual documents. The reason for working with documents, as opposed to for instance sentences or phrases, is that the BootMark method is concerned with the creation of corpora. LÄS MER
9. Electronic states of adsorbates and insulating overlayers on metal surfaces
Sammanfattning : Electronic states of adsorbates and insulating overlayers provide a wealth of scientifically interesting phenomena with great technological importance. Interesting phenomena arise, for example, from the interaction of electronic states of an adsorbate with the continuum of metal electron states, both propagating bulk states and surface states. 10. Inbreeding, Effective Population Sizes and Genetic Differentiation : A Mathematical Analysis of Structured Populations
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers on various aspects of inbreeding, effective population sizes and genetic differentiation in structured populations, that is, populations that consist of a number of subpopulations. Three of the papers concern age structured populations, where in the first paper we concentrate on calculating the variance effective population size (NeV) and how NeV depends on the time between measurements and the weighting scheme of age classes.
