11. Extensions and Applications of Affine Shape
Sammanfattning : A central problem in computer vision is to reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of a scene from a set of two-dimensional images. Traditionally this is done by extracting a set of characteristic points in the scene and to compute a reconstruction of these points. LÄS MER
12. Topographic Control of Groundwater Flow
Sammanfattning : Gravity is the main driving force for groundwater flow, and both landscape topography and geology distribute the effects of gravity on groundwater flow. The groundwater table defines the distribution of the potential energy of the water. LÄS MER
13. Catalysis for Lean NOx Reduction - Aspects of Catalyst Synthesis and Surface Acidity
Sammanfattning : From both economic and environmental perspectives it is desirable to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. One route to increase the fuel efficiency for vehicles is operation in oxygen excess. However, a major problem with this technique is the lean environment, which obstructs catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) to harmless nitrogen. LÄS MER
14. Radome Diagnostics: utilizing Source Reconstruction based on Surface Integral Representations
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, an inverse source reconstruction method with great potential in radome diagnostics is presented. A radome is a cover that encloses an antenna in order to protect it from environmental influences. LÄS MER
15. Surface chemistry of Al and Si (hydr)oxides, with emphasis on nano-sized gibbsite (α-Al(OH)3)
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains an introduction to the surface chemistry of minerals in aqueous environment, and a summary of five manuscripts concerning adsorption reactions at the surfaces of nano-sized gibbsite (α-Al(OH)3), amorphous silica and kaolinite. Nano-sized gibbsite was synthesized and thoroughly characterized using X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
