6. Carrier dynamics in blue and green InGaN LED structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on effects that are critical to achieving high internal quantum efficiency (IQE) in GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that emit in a broad spectral range, from violet to green-yellow. These effects include interwell carrier transport in multiple quantum well (QW) structures, lateral transport in the QW plane, and radiative and nonradiative recombination. LÄS MER
7. Luminescent Silicon Nanocrystals: From Single Quantum Dot to Light-harvesting Devices
Sammanfattning : Silicon (Si) serves as the basic material of the system-on-a-chip industry and photovoltaic panels nowadays. This is mostly thanks to its high abundance in the earth’s crust, thereby low cost, virtually non-toxicity, and superior stability. LÄS MER
8. Development of Techniques for Characterization, Detection and Protein Profiling of Extracellular Vesicles
Sammanfattning : Nanosized extracellular vesicles (EVs, ∼30-2000 nm) have emerged as important mediators of intercellular communication, offering opportunities for both diagnostics and therapeutics. In particular, small EVs generated from the endolysosomal pathway (∼30-150 nm), referred to as exosomes, have attracted interest as a suitable biomarker for cancer diagnostics and treatment monitoring based on minimally invasive liquid biopsies. 9. Dynamic Characterization of Semiconductor Lasers and Intensity Modulators
Sammanfattning : The research work presented in this thesis deals with characterization ofdynamics of active photonic devices that are based on semiconductormaterials. The thesis contains an introduction and a collection of publishedarticles in peer reviewed international journals and conferences. LÄS MER
10. Study of physical layer impairments in high speed optical networks
Sammanfattning : The work done in this thesis focuses on the impact of transmission impairments in high speed optical networks. Specifically it focuses on the impact of nonlinear impairments in long haul fiber optic data transmission. LÄS MER
