  1. 1. Formic and Levulinic Acid from Cellulose via Heterogeneous Catalysis

    Författare :Johan Ahlkvist; Jyri-Pekka Mikkola; Riitta Keiski; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Levulinic acid; formic acid; Amberlyst 70;

    Sammanfattning : The chemical industry of today is under increased pressure to develop novel green materials, bio-fuels as well as sustainable chemicals for the chemical industry. Indeed, the endeavour is to move towards more eco-friendly cost efficient production processes and technologies and chemical transformation of renewables has a central role considering the future sustainable supply of chemicals and energy needed for societies. 2. 2. Development of sensitive EPR dosimetry methods

    Författare :Håkan Gustafsson; Eva Lund; Anders Lund; Dag Rune Olsen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electron paramagnetic resonance EPR ; Formic acids; pharmacology; Lithium; Nickel; Radiometry; Rhodium; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) dosimetry using the well established dosimeter material alanine is a generally accepted dosimetric method for measurements of high absorbed doses. Alanine EPR dosimetry is however not sensitive enough for high precision measurements of low (< 5 Gy) absorbed doses using reasonably measurement times and small dosimeters. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc induced by carboxylic acids : Quantitative in situ analysis and computer simulations

    Författare :Harveth Gil; Christofer Leygraf; Johan Tidblad; Stuart Lyon; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atmospheric corrosion; copper; zinc; carboxylic acids; modeling; GILDES; in situ; quantification;

    Sammanfattning : Degradation of metals through atmospheric corrosion is a most important and costly phenomenon with significant effects on, e.g., the lifespan of industrial materials, the reliability of electronic components and military equipment, and the aesthetic appearance of our cultural heritage. 4. 4. Quantitative in situ analysis of initial atmospheric corrosion of copper induced by carboxylic acids

    Författare :Harveth Gil; Christofer Leygraf; Mark Rutland; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atmospheric corrosion; carboxylic acids; copper; in situ; IRAS; QCM; coulometric reduction.; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The interaction of carboxylic acids with copper is a phenomenon found both outdoors and, more commonly, indoors. The influence on copper of some carboxylic acids (formic, acetic, propionic, and butyric) have so far been studied at concentrations levels at least three or four orders of magnitude higher than actual indoor conditions (< 20 ppb, volume parts per billion), and with only limited emphasis on any mechanistic approach. 5. 5. Atmospheric Corrosion of Historic Lead Organ Pipes

    Författare :Annika Niklasson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atmospheric corrosion; conservation strategies; formiate; historical organs; organ pipe corrosion; lead; oak wood; formic acid; acetic acid; acetate;

    Sammanfattning : The atmospheric corrosion of lead is investigated, with the aim to improve the understanding of the environmental degradation of historical organ pipes. Fieldwork is combined with laboratory investigations. The field studies included characterization of the organ environment and exposures of lead coupons. LÄS MER
