  1. 6. Microclimate at range margins : Consequences for boreal forest understory species

    Författare :Caroline Greiser; Kristoffer Hylander; Johan Ehrlén; Eric Meineri; Miska Luoto; Alistair Jump; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microclimate; species distribution; range dynamics; boreal forest; canopy cover; topography; soil moisture; air humidity; bryophytes; lichens; vascular plants; biotic interactions; forest management; biodiversity conservation; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : A warmer climate will shift species distributional range margins poleward, but near-ground microclimates may modify these shifts. Cold-adapted northern species at their rear edge may survive locally in microrefugia with a colder microclimate, and warm-adapted southern species at their leading edge may colonize stepping stone habitats with a warmer microclimate. 2. 7. Small remnant habitats : Important structures in fragmented landscapes

    Författare :Jessica Lindgren; Sara Cousins; Regina Lindborg; Adam Kimberley; Ove Eriksson; Hans Henrik Bruun; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha-diversity; Beta-diversity; Biological pest control; Canopy cover; Connectivity; Ecosystem function; Fleshy fruits; Forest edge; Forest management; Forest specialist species; Fragmentation; Functional diversity; Gamma-diversity; Grassland specialist species; Green infrastructure; Habitat amount hypothesis; Island biogeography; Midfield islets; Plant diversity; Plant-pollinator interaction; Pollination; Remnant habitat; Seed predation; Small habitats; Species richness; Structural heterogeneity; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The world-wide intensification of agriculture has led to a decline in species richness due to land use change, isolation, and fragmentation of natural and semi-natural habitats in agricultural and forestry landscapes. As a consequence, there is a current landscape management focus on the importance of green infrastructure to mitigate biodiversity decline and preserve ecosystem functions e. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Modelling and Inference for Spatio-Temporal Marked Point Processes

    Författare :Ottmar Cronie; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymptotic normality; Consistency; Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process; Diffusion process; Edge correction; Goodness-of-fit; Richards growth function; Growth-interaction process; Immigration-death process; Least squares estimation; Markov process; Maximum likelihood estimation; Open-growth; Spatio-temporal marked point process; Stationarity; Stochastic differential equation; Transition density; Asymptotic normality;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with inference problems related to the growth-interaction process (GI-process). The GI-process is a continuous time spatio-temporal point process with dynamic interacting marks (closed disks), in which the immigration-death process (ID-process) controls the arrivals of new marked points as well as their potential life-times. 4. 9. Different Aspects of Inference for Spatio-Temporal Point Processes

    Författare :Ottmar Cronie; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymptotic normality; Consistency; Edge correction; Immigration-death process; Least squares estimation; Maximum likelihood estimation; Spatio-temporal marked point process; Transition probability.; Consistency;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with inference problems related to the Renshaw-Särkkä growth interaction model (RS-model). It is a continuous time spatio-temporal point process with time dependent interacting marks, in which the immigrationdeath process (a continuous time Markov chain) controls the arrivals of new marked points as well as their potential life-times. 5. 10. Effects of drought on boreal forest understory species

    Författare :Irena A. Koelemeijer; Kristoffer Hylander; Johan Asplund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biodiversity conservation; boreal forests; bryophytes; canopy cover; climate change; drought; extreme climatic events; forest management; forest understory; fungi; lichens; plants; rainout shelter; soil communities; soil moisture; transplant experiment; Ecology and Evolution; ekologi och evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Extreme climatic events, such as droughts, can have large effects on biodiversity. Drought effects in forest understories are variable over small spatial scales and can be exacerbated, or buffered, by the local vegetation structure, distance to forest edges, hydrology, and soil characteristics.
