  1. 1. When water becomes a threat : Risk assessment and risk management plans for floods and drinking water in Swedish practice

    Författare :Viveca Norén; Kevin Bishop; Beatrice Hedelin; Lars Nyberg; Sven Halldin; Kurt Petersen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Flood; Drinking water supply; Risk management; Risk assessment; Flood risk management plan FRMP ; Integrated flood management IFM ; Tools and methods; Practice compared to theory; Sweden; Municipalities; Interview study; Document study; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Water is an essential but vulnerable resource. A shortage of good quality drinking water is a threat to human health and society as a whole. Abundance of water in the form of floods can also be a serious threat which can have consequences for the drinking water supply. To reduce these risks there is a need for systematic risk reduction. 2. 2. Road disasters? Modeling and assessment of Swedish roads within crucial climate conditions

    Författare :Alireza Nickman; Bo Olofsson; Per-Erik Jansson; Nils-Otto Kitterød; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Road; Flood; Moisture; Temperature; Groundwater; GIS; Uncertainity; Sweden; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : An efficient maintenance of roads to ensure high accessibility and durability of the transport capacity requires an understanding of how the hydrological response depends on both the road and the landscape characteristics. New methods and data were used to identify and explain interaction between roads and surrounding environment and their influence on hydrologic responses both in watershed scale and road-section scale. 3. 3. A Framework for Evaluation of Flood Management Strategies

    Författare :Karin Hansson; Love Ekenberg; Mats Danielson; Anna Vári; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :flood; decision; multi criteria; simulation; evaluation; data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decades, a great deal of attention has been focused on the financial risk management of natural disasters. The reason is that the economic losses from floods, windstorms, earthquakes and other disasters in both the developing and developed countries are escalating dramatically. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Rhine cities - urban flood integration (UFI) : German and Dutch adaptation and mitigation strategies

    Författare :Cornelia Redeker; V.J. Meyer; Netherlands Delft Department of Urbanism Faculty of Architecture and The Built Environment Delft University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Flood management; Rhine; Germany; Netherlands; Urban Flood Integration; climate change; klimatförändringar; sustainability; hållbarhet; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : Flood Risk Management along the Rhine today combines river expanding measures and adaptive strategies with the existing defensive system to cope with the risk increase as a consequence of previous interventions and developments and fluctuations in water levels due to climate change. Differences in landscapes and urgencies and differences in planning cultures between the Upper and Lower Rhine and the Delta have also led to different strategic approaches. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Flood Warnings in a Risk Management Context : A Case of Swedish Municipalities

    Författare :Erik Persson; Lars Nyberg; Inge Svedung; Charles Parker; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Early warning systems; floods; natural hazards; municipality; risk management; preparedness; disaster risk reduction.; Risk and Environmental Studies; Risk- och Miljöstudier;

    Sammanfattning : As a result of the United Nations’ International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (1990-2000), and recent high profile disasters, disaster risk reduction has climbed high on the international political agenda. There has been a paradigm shift from reacting to disasters towards preparing for and mitigating effects of disasters. LÄS MER
