  1. 1. Experimental and Numerical Investigations of Flames Stabilized by Swirl Flow and Bluff-body:Flame Structures and Flame Instabilities

    Författare :Yiheng Tong; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flame structures; Flame instabilities; Blowout limits; Flashback; Swirl Flow; Bluff-body; Chemiluminescence; PIV;

    Sammanfattning : Combustion and its control are essential to our existence on this planet since we knew it. Nowadays, the largest share of the world’s electricity and most of our transportation systems are powered by combustion. In addition, industrial processes also rely heavily upon combustion. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Application of Laser Techniques in Combustion Environments of Relevance for Gas Turbine Studies

    Författare :Andreas Lantz; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser Diagnostics; PLIF; Laser-Induced Fluorescence; Combustion; Fuel visualization; LIF; Gas turbine; Flashback; Flame position; Swirling flame; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Lantz;

    Sammanfattning : In the work presented in this thesis, different laser-based techniques were employed for measurements in different combustion devices. Laser-based techniques enable non-intrusive and in-situ measurements to be carried out, in which high spatial and temporal resolution can be obtained. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling effects of flame development on stationary and oscillating premixed turbulent combustion

    Författare :Pratap Sathiah; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flame development; Keywords: Premixed turbulent flame; Flame Speed Closure model;

    Sammanfattning : The vast majority of contemporary models of premixed turbulent flames applied to multi-dimensional RANS numerical simulations of combustion in gas turbine engines and aero-engine afterburners focus on fully-developed flames, characterized by fully-developed turbulent diffusivity, thickness, and burning velocity. However, abundant experimental data obtained from statistically stationary premixed flames clearly show that a typical turbulent flame develops as it is convected by mean flow from a stabilization zone. 4. 4. Laser-Based Investigations of Combustion Phenomena in Gas Turbine Related Burners

    Författare :Arman Subash; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Combustion; Gas turbine; Chemiluminescence; laser-based techniques; LIF; PIV; DLE; TARS; CH4; H2; OH; CH20; Equivalence ratio; flame stabilization; LBO; Flashback; RPL; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Subash;

    Sammanfattning : Experiments were performed on various combustion devices to investigate the flames employing different optical measurement techniques under atmospheric pressure conditions. Non-intrusive laser-based techniques provided in-situ information concerning different parameters of the combustion process, with a high degree of temporal and spatial resolution. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modelling of methane and hydrogen enriched methane flames in industrial gas turbine burners

    Författare :Daniel Moell; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of the power production in the world today is based on combustion of coal, oil and natural gas. Most countries have agreed that the amount of CO2 emitted to the atmosphere will have to be decreased to keep the global warming at sustainable levels. LÄS MER
