26. On the efficiency of the Bayesian bootstrap
Sammanfattning : The efficiency of the Bayesian bootstrap is treated for large and small samples from infinite and finite populations. The Bayesian bootstrap is compared with nonparametric and parametric Bayesian methods in the infinite case, for large samples and considering the mean and truncation functionals. LÄS MER
27. Optimal Design and Inference for Correlated Bernoulli Variables using a Simplified Cox Model
Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes a simplification of the model for dependent Bernoulli variables presented in Cox and Snell (1989). The simplified model, referred to as the simplified Cox model, is developed for identically distributed and dependent Bernoulli variables. LÄS MER
28. Data driven modeling in the presence of time series structure: : Improved bounds and effective algorithms
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five appended papers devoted to modeling tasks where the desired models are learned from data sets with an underlying time series structure. We develop a statistical methodology for providing efficient estimators and analyzing their non-asymptotic behavior. LÄS MER
29. Model calibration methods for mechanical systems with local nonlinearities
Sammanfattning : Most modern product development utilizes computational models. With increasing demands on reducing the product development lead-time, it becomes more important to improve the accuracy and efficiency of simulations. LÄS MER
30. Benefits of Non-Linear Mixed Effect Modeling and Optimal Design : Pre-Clinical and Clinical Study Applications
Sammanfattning : Despite the growing promise of pharmaceutical research, inferior experimentation or interpretation of data can inhibit breakthrough molecules from finding their way out of research institutions and reaching patients. This thesis provides evidence that better characterization of pre-clinical and clinical data can be accomplished using non-linear mixed effect modeling (NLMEM) and more effective experiments can be conducted using optimal design (OD).
