  1. 11. Fire behaviour of selected polymeric materials : Numerical modelling and validation using microscale and bench scale test methods

    Författare :Abhishek Bhargava; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DAEM; pyrolysis modelling; Polymer flammability; mass loss rate; Heat release rate HRR ;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to predict fire behaviour of materials is of key interest to building materials industry. Themain reason for it is expensive fire testing and certification costs borne by the manufacturers to bring a finished product to market. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Assessment and Evaluation of Man-portable Robots for High-Risk Professions in Urban Settings

    Författare :Carl Lundberg; Henrik Christensen; Stefan Axberg; Paolo Fiorini; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; robot; evaluation; military; urban; man-portable; UGV; Other technology; Övriga teknikvetenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : There are a number of professions in which exposure to life threatening risks is part of daily routine and robots could possibly be used to avoid some of these. In fact, there are applications in which this is already done, the most prominent being bomb disposal and mine clearing. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Multispectral Remote Sensing and Deep Learning for Wildfire Detection

    Författare :Xikun Hu; Yifang Ban; Ioannis Gitas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active fire detection; biome; multi-criteria; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; burned area mapping; deep learning; semantic segmentation; machine learning.; aktiv branddetektering; biom; multikriterietillvägagångssätt; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; kartläggning av bränt område; djupinlärning; semantisk segmentering; maskininlärningsmetoderna; Geoinformatik; Geoinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : Remote sensing data has great potential for wildfire detection and monitoring with enhanced spatial resolution and temporal coverage. Earth Observation satellites have been employed to systematically monitor fire activity over large regions in two ways: (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots (during the fire event), and (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burned scars (during or after the event). 4. 14. Thermal boundary conditions based on field modeling of fires : Heat transfer calculations in CFD and FE models with special regards to fire exposure represented with adiabatic surface temperatures

    Författare :Joakim Sandström; Stephen Welch; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Sammanfattning : Combining computer fluid dynamic, CFD, models with finite element, FE, models to calculate temperature in fire exposed structures can reduce design temperatures in structures while still obtaining the level of structural fire safety stipulated by society. A better understanding of heat transfer and the concept of adiabatic surface temperatures, AST, the transition of data between models can be simplified and more accurate temperature predictions can be made. 5. 15. Evolution in changing environments revealed by fire melanism in pygmy grasshopper

    Författare :Magnus Karlsson; Anders Forsman; Karl Gotthard; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Evolution Melanism Polymorphism Pygmy grasshoppers; Biology; Biologi; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : According to theory, genetic diversity can be maintained by environmental variation and the degree of genetic and phenotypic polymorphism may enhance the ability of populations to endure stress imposed by changing environments. In my thesis I used colour polymorphic pygmy grasshoppers (Tetrix subulata) as a model system to explore how environmental variation influenced genetic diversity. LÄS MER
