  1. 21. Improving Stress Tolerance in Industrial Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strains for Ethanol Production from Lignocellulosic Biomass

    Författare :Valeria Wallace; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; lignocellulose; ethanol; inhibitors; temperature; stress tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : The present work was aimed at developing industrial S. cerevisiae strains with improved tolerance to two types of stressors encountered during the fermentation of lignocellulosic biomass that affect ethanol yield and productivity, namely hydrolysate-derived inhibitors and high temperature, and at understanding the response of yeast and mechanisms of adaptation to such stressors. 2. 22. Modelling of cyclic and viscous behaviour of pearlitic steels. Application to tread braked railway wheels

    Författare :Ali Esmaeili; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Railway wheels; viscoplasticity; tread braking; rolling contact fatigue; full-scale brake rig testing; finite element analysis; plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : Railway wheel and rail materials are subjected to very high stresses and, in some cases, also elevated temperatures. The rolling contact loading results in a multiaxial stress state with a combination of compression and shear. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Nonlinear Creep Model of Paper and Corrugated Board Materials

    Författare :Poorvi Patel; Teknisk logistik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; Finite element modeling; Creep-recovery tests; Schapery creep equation; Localbuckling; Orthotropic materials; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Models of the nonlinear creep behavior of paper, and of the global buckling , local buckling and creep buckling of corrugated board have been developed. The studies of creep and buckling were limited to climate conditions with constant relative humidity. First the short-term elastic buckling of corrugated board panels was studied. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Traumatic Brain Injuries: Animal Experiments and Numerical Simulations to Support the Development of a Brain Injury Criterion

    Författare :Jacobo Antona; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traumatic brain injuries; traffic safety; concussions; animal experiments; finite element method;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) account for about half of the 1 300 000 annual traffic related deaths and the 50 000 000 injuries worldwide. The burden of TBI is ethically unacceptable and economically unsustainable. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Biomechanics of the Human Eye and Intraocular Pressure Measurements

    Författare :Darja Ljubimova; Anders Eriksson; Anders Eklund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IOP; GAT; ocular biomechanics; corneoscleral envelope; finite element modelling; parametric analysis; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the reliability of Goldmann-type applanation tonometers (GAT). It deals with the investigation of the relation between predicted intraocular pressure, IOPG and true pressure, IOPT. LÄS MER
