  1. 16. Stochastic finite element simulations of real life frontal crashes : With emphasis on chest injury mechanisms in near-side oblique loading conditions

    Författare :Johan Iraeus; Mats Lindquist; Ulf Björnstig; Mats G Larsson; Joel Stitzel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EDR; Real life crashes; Oblique; Finite element; Simulation; HBM; Injury mechanism; Pulse shape; Stochastic; Rib fracture; THUMS; Generic; Statistics; biomechanics; biomekanik; skadeförebyggande; injury prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction. Road traffic injuries are the eighth leading cause of death globally and the leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29. Of individuals killed or injured in road traffic injuries, a large group comprises occupants sustaining a thorax injury in frontal crashes. The elderly are particularly at risk, as they are more fragile. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Finite element methods for multiscale/multiphysics problems

    Författare :Robert Söderlund; Mats Larson; Victor Ginting; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; finite element methods; variational multiscale methods; Galerkin; convergence analysis; multiphysics; a posteriori error estimation; duality; adaptivity; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we focus on multiscale and multiphysics problems. We derive a posteriori error estimates for a one way coupled multiphysics problem, using the dual weighted residual method. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Finite element methods on surfaces

    Författare :Mirza Cenanovic; Peter Hansbo; Kent Salomonsson; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to improve numerical simulations of surface problems. Two novel computational concepts are analyzed and applied on two surface problems; minimal surface problems and elastic membrane problems. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Active Muscle Responses in a Finite Element Human Body Model

    Författare :Jonas Östh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; feedback control; autonomous braking; finite element; human body model; active muscle; posture maintenance; reflexive response;

    Sammanfattning : The development of automotive safety systems is moving towards an integration of systems thatare active before and during an impact. Consequently, there is a need to make a combinedanalysis of both the pre-crash and the in-crash phases, which leads to new requirements forHuman Body Models (HBMs) that today are used for crash simulations. 5. 20. Patch loading of stainless steel girders : experiments and finite element analyses

    Författare :Emma Unosson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the behaviour of stainless steel girders subjected to patch loading. The current loading situation arises for example at beam- column connections or at crane girders where the load is travelling along a girder. At bridge launching it is also important to consider patch loading. LÄS MER
