  1. 1. Constitutive Modelling and Finite Element Analysis of Concrete Structures with Regard to Environmental Influence

    Författare :Ola Dahlblom; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite Elemente Method; Constitutive model; Concrete; Environment; Moisture; Drying; Temperature; Fracture; Fictitious crack model; Smeared Crack; Creep; Shrinkage; Pickett Effect;

    Sammanfattning : A constitutive model for concrete is formulated. Tensile fracture is described using a smeared crack approach where the fracrure energy is considered and the shear stiffneess in the cracked region is gradually reduced as crackling develops. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Numerical Analysis of Moisture-Related Distortion in Sawn Timber

    Författare :Sigurdur Ormarsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer simulations; Deformation; Wood; Moisture; Drying; Finite element method; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A 3D theory for the numerical simulation of deformations and stresses in wood during moisture variation is described. The constitutive model employed assumes the total strain rate to be the sum of the elastic strain rate, the moisture-induced strain rate, the mechano-sorption strain rate and the creep strain rate. 3. 3. Beam-to-Beam Contact and Its Application to Micromechanical Simulation of Fiber Networks

    Författare :Hamid Reza Motamedian; Artem Kulachenko; Umberto Perego; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber network; beam-to-beam contact; rotational contact; non-consistent; simulation; finite element; multiscale; microscale; micromechanics; paper; refining; beating; fine; hygroexpansion; shrinkage; drying; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis covers the topic of modeling the three-dimensional fiber net- works with the finite element method. It contains the part addressing the numerical aspects of the modeling, namely, the contact formulation and application of the developed methods to the fundamental questions such as the effect of randomness in fiber properties and effect of fines and hygroexpansion. 4. 4. A Finite Element Study of the Shape Stability of Sawn Timber Subjected to Moisture Variations

    Författare :Sigurdur Ormarsson; Hans Petersson; Ola Dahlblom; Lund University; []
    Nyckelord :simulation; deformation; wood; moisture; finite element method; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Shape instability in timber products exposed to moisture variation is a serious problem since it can make wood products unsuitable for construction purposes. In this thesis the finite element method has been used to simulate deformations during the drying process.….…. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Moisture Transport and Moisture-Induced Distortions in Timber - an Experimental and Numerical Study

    Författare :John Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transfer; gluing; twist; drying; wood; timber board; laminated product; FEM; distortion; moisture; mass transfer;

    Sammanfattning : Timber products subjected to climatic variations commonly display moisture-induced distortions that can lead to serious problems for end-users. The aim of the thesis, which consists of an extended summary and six appended papers, was to investigate the potential of using the gluing technique suggested here for dealing with problems of moisture-induced distortions and developing the heat and mass transfer models which such distortion analyses require.
