  1. 1. 'Nisi temere agat' : Francisco Suárez on Final Causes and Final Causation

    Författare :Erik Åkerlund; Tomas Ekenberg; Henrik Lagerlund; Pauliina Remes; Helen Hattab; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Francisco Suárez; final causes; causality; ontology; metaphysics; intentionality; Francisco Suárez; ändamålsorsaker; kausalitet; ontologi; metafysik; intentionalitet; Philosophy; with specialization in history of philosophy; Filosofi med filosofihistorisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : The main thesis of this dissertation is that final causes are beings of reason (‘entia rationis’) in the philosophy of Francisco Suárez (1547-1617). 2. 2. Causes of corruption

    Författare :Tobias Dahlström; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of an introductory chapter and four essays. Although possible to read individually they all analyse the causes of corruption and hence complement each other.The four essays collectively illustrate the complex nature of corruption. Often many interrelated factors work together in causing corruption. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Leibniz on Agency and Force

    Författare :Peter Myrdal; Lilli Alanen; Pauliina Remes; John Carriero; Michael Della Rocca; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This is a study of Leibniz’s theory of agency – his theory of the nature of causal powers and agents. Leibniz develops his view against the background of an Aristotelian conception of agency. The latter was rejected by many early modern philosophers in the wake of the mechanist conception of the natural world. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Heterogenic Final Cell Cycle of Retinal Horizontal Cells

    Författare :Shahrzad Shirazi Fard; Finn Hallböök; Ulla Pirvola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Apoptosis; Checkpoint; DNA damage; Differentiation; Heteroploid; Endoreplication; Proliferation; Tumor; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The cell cycle is a highly complex process that is under the control of several pathways.  Failure to regulate and/or complete the cell cycle often leads to cell cycle arrest, which may be followed by programmed cell death (apoptosis). One cell type that has a variety of unique cell cycle properties is the horizontal cell of the chicken retina. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cracking during Continuous Casting of Steels : Analysis tools and procedures to identify their causes on microalloyed steel slabs

    Författare :Rosa Maria Pineda Huitron; Esa Vuorinen; Pavel Ernesto Ramírez López; Maria Begoña Santillana; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transverse corner cracks; Continuous Casting; Microalloyes steels; Secondary cooling; Cooling curves; Crack susceptibility; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Sammanfattning : Transverse corner cracks are one of the most common but complex defects formed in microalloyed steels during continuous casting (CC). Such cracks are detrimental because it leads to a loss in productivity with a great impact on environment, energy and economics for several steel making companies all over the world. LÄS MER
