  1. 1. Silicon carbide field-effect devices studied as gas sensors for exhaust gas monitoring

    Författare :Peter Tobias; Ignaz Eisele; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silicon carbide; high temperature; gas sensors; field effect devices; MISdevices; Schottky diodes; experimental design; reaction kinetics; mass transport; car exhaust; multipoint injection; response times; cylinder specific; on-board diagnosis;

    Sammanfattning : Metal-insulator-silicon carbide (MIS) structures have been studied as gas sensors. We have investigated how the sensors detect gases, how fast they do that, and how they could be used for exhaust gas monitoring.We have prepared simple field-effect devices, MIS-capacitors and Schottky diodes, on silicon carbide with platinum gates. 2. 2. Interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum - Supported catalysts and chemical sensors

    Författare :Elin Becker; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Periodic operation In situ spectroscopy; XAS; CO; Sensing mechanism; Low-temperature activity; XANES; Pt; Environmental catalysis; Support material; CH4; Chemical sensors;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of the interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum in connection to catalysis and sensor technology for emission control. Specifically, the low-temperature oxidation of methane and carbon monoxide over supported platinum catalysts and the sensor response mechanism towards CO of platinum-based chemical field effect sensors were studied. 3. 3. Processing and characterization of thin film field effect gas sensors

    Författare :Anna Elisabeth Åbom; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MISFET; Field effect chemical gas sensors; long-term stability; sputtering; Pt; TiN;

    Sammanfattning : At Applied Physics, Linköping University, the main interest for sensor research has been the focused on MISFET (Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors) and related devices. The gas sensitivity of MISFET’s was first reported by Lundström et al. in 1975. Today a lot of work is being done in this field. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gas-sensors for Automobile Interiors

    Författare :Eva-Lotta Kalman; Haugen John-Erik; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The concentration of pollutants in the car compartment air is influenced not only by neighboring vehicles, but also by pollutants originating from the car's interior trim materials. These pollutants may cause nuisance and even pose a safety risk as some condense on the windscreen and form an oily film that dims the screen. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Materials Design for the Improvement of SiC Field Effect Gas Sensor performance in High Temperature Process Control applications

    Författare :Lida Khajavizadeh; Mike Andersson; Fredrik Eriksson; Krisztian Kordas; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Following growing concerns about the effect these last decades of accelerating energy consumption, escalating use of natural (not the least fossil) resources, and waste generation has had on earth’s climate, human health, and the environment, industry is facing mounting pressure to increase the energy-, resource-, and cost-efficiency of both processes and products while drastically reducing pollutant emissions. In response, industry is, besides increasing their utilization of renewable energy and introducing new bio-based products, taking advantage of the rapid development in 5G technology and associated wireless interconnectivity to move towards full automation of production processes and facilities.
