  1. 1. Ultrasound screening for fetal anomalies

    Författare :Annamari Nikkilä; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sexuality; Obstetrik; andrology; congenital malformations; ultrasound; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; reproduction; gynaecology; Obstetrics; fetal diagnosis;

    Sammanfattning : We studied the prenatal detection rate of various malformations during a study period of 16 years in a population in southern Sweden consisting of 141 240 deliveries. The overall detection rate was 28.4% and the false positive diagnoses were very few. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pregnancy Ultrasound Detecting Soft Markers – the Challenge of Communicating Risk Figures

    Författare :Annika Åhman; Anna Sarkadi; Christine Rubertsson; Peter Lindgren; Marie Berg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pregnancy; Ultrasound; Soft markers; Prenatal; Screening; Fathers; Informed decision making; Decision aid.; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on expectant parents’ experiences and needs when soft makers are detected at mid-trimester ultrasound, resulting in an unexpected assessment of risk for fetal anomalies. The thesis also describes the prevalence of ultrasonographic fetal soft markers and the incidence of Down syndrome in a low-risk population of 10,535 pregnant women with a total of 10,710 fetuses, as well as the risk of invasive prenatal diagnostics in conjunction with the detection of soft markers. 3. 3. Women's Experiences of Fetal Screening for Down's Syndrome by Means of an Early Ultrasound Examination

    Författare :Susanne Georgsson Öhman; Ulla Waldenström; Charlotta Grunewald; Berit Schei; Sophiahemmet Högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fetal ultrasound screening; Nuchal translucency; Down s syndrome; Worry; Depressive symptoms; False positive results; Women s reactions; Risk information; Nursing; Omvårdnad; Fetal ultrasound screening; nuchal translucency; Down s syndrome; worry; depressive symptoms; false positive results; women s reactions; risk information;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to explore women's reactions to and experiences of fetal screening for Down's syndrome PS) by means of an ultrasound examination, including measurement of fetal nuchal translucency (NT). The effect of this screening on maternal worry about the baby's health was investigated, as well as reactions to a false positive test and interpretation of information about riskAlso, an instrument measuring worry during pregnancy, the Cambridge Worry Scale, was translated into Swedish and tested on a sample of pregnant women. 4. 4. Symphysis Fundus Measurements for Detection of Intrauterine Growth Retardation

    Författare :Eva Bergman; Ove Axelsson; Helle Kieler; Max Petzold; Reynir Tomas Geirsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :symphysis-fundus measurements; small for gestational age; intrauterine growth retardation; fetal growth; self-administered; relative growth; screening method; statistical surveillance; fetal surveillance;

    Sammanfattning : A case-control study was performed to evaluate the Swedish population-based symphysis fundus (SF) reference curves. The study included 242 small for gestational age (SGA) neonates (169 term and 73 preterm infants) as cases and 296 non-SGA infants as controls. Two Swedish SF curves were evaluated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ultrasound measurement of cervical length in the second trimester of pregnancy for prediction of preterm delivery

    Författare :Pihla Kuusela; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; preterm delivery; transvaginal ultrasound; cervical length measurement; second trimester; prospective study; observational study; mass screening; reproducibility of results; inter-observer variation; intra-observer variation; data accuracy; quality control;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background: Short cervical length is a risk factor for preterm delivery (PTD) and screening of cervical length using transvaginal ultrasound in the second trimester is a proposed method to find women at risk Aims: To examine the potential value of routine measurement of cervical length in a Swedish population of women with singleton pregnancies in the prediction of PTD. To estimate inter- and intra-observer agreement and reliability of cervical length measurements. LÄS MER
