1. Protein and mRNA Studies of Rat FA1/Pref-1/dlk
Sammanfattning : The timing of cell differentiation is important for development and renewal of well functioning organs and tissues. One protein involved in this process is Preadipocyte factor 1 (Pref-1). Most likely, the role of this protein is to maintain cells in an undifferentiated state. LÄS MER
2. Fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia : immunological mechanisms and clinical consequences
Sammanfattning : Fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) is a rare condition that may occur in connection with pregnancy, when maternal antibodies directed against paternally inherited platelet antigens cross the placenta and mediate thrombocytopenia in the fetus and neonate. FNAIT puts the fetus at risk of severe bleedings, with an intracranial hemorrhage being the most feared outcome. LÄS MER
3. Experimental studies of human fetal liver cells : in regard to in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : Successful in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation represents a potential step forward in the management of patients with severe inherited hematological, metabolic and immunological disorders. Animal data from a number of species have demonstrated evidence of engraftment, but to date the only effective in utero transplantations (IUTx) in humans have been performed in fetuses with severe immunodeficiencies, suggesting that the fetal immune system play a vital role in the success or failure of in utero transplantation. 4. Xenograft Rejection : A Study of Cytokine mRNA Expression in Experimental Models
Sammanfattning : Acute cellular xenograft rejection of ICCs triggered mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1b and TNF-a), Th1 associated cytokines (IL-12p40, IL-2 and IFN-g) and Th2 associated cytokines (IL-4 and IL-10). The peak values and the kinetics of the mRNA expression indicated that acute cellular xenograft rejection is enhanced by the proinflammatory response and mediated by the Th1 associated response, whereas the function of the Th2 associated response most likely is to counteract the Th1 associated cytokines and thereby inhibit bystander damage by the delayed type hypersensitivity like rejection process. 5. Immunoglobulin isotype switching in health and disease
Sammanfattning : Immunoglobulin isotype switching is the process where the Cmy region, initially located downstream of the VDJ region is replaced by another constant region gene. Class switch recombination takes place between switch (S) regions, composed of tandem repeats of short unit sequences, located 5 of each CH gene, except for Cdelta. LÄS MER
