  1. 6. Agricultural expansion impacts on wetland ecosystem services from Kilombero Valley, Tanzania

    Författare :Edmond Alavaisha; Regina Lindborg; Steve Lyon; Jennie Barron; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecosystem services; land use change; management practices; fertilization; irrigation; water quality; and smallholder; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Land use change has major impact on the world’s wetland ecosystems and biodiversity. The motivation behind this change has been to increase agricultural production, often resulting in negative effects on water quality and soil fertility. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Peatlands at a Threshold: Greenhouse Gas Dynamics in a Changing Climate

    Författare :Magnus Lund; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chamber; greenhouse gas; nitrous oxide; methane; carbon dioxide; carbon; bog; Peatland; mire; eddy covariance; nitrogen; phosphorus; fertilization;

    Sammanfattning : To be able to predict the strength of climate change and its consequences for mankind, it is of major importance to understand the contemporary greenhouse gas exchange of the terrestrial biosphere, as well as its response to changes in climate. To achieve such understanding both descriptive studies and manipulation experiments are required. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Perturbance and Stimulation : using Nitrogen Addition and High-Throughput Sequencing to Study Fungal Communities in Boreal Forests

    Författare :Andreas N. Schneider; Nathaniel Street; Vaughan Hurry; Torgny Näsholm; Colin Averill; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boreal forest; Scots pine; Norway spruce; ectomycorrhiza; saprotroph; fertilization; nitrogen; mycobiome; rhizosphere; decomposition; carbon; seedling establishment; forest management; clearcutting;

    Sammanfattning : Fungal communities are major players in globally important nutrient cycling processes, and form symbioses with most terrestrial plants. In the nitrogen (N) limited Swedish boreal forest, ectomycorrhizal (EcM) fungi colonize most roots of the economically important and stand dominating conifer species, Norway spruce (Picea abies) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), with significant implications for tree nutrition and decomposition processes. 5. 10. Cumulative Live Birth Rates after In Vitro Fertilization

    Författare :Catharina Olivius; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :in vitro fertilization; cumulative live birth; single embryo transfer; frozen-thawed cycle; discontinuation;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In vitro fertilization (IVF) has become increasingly common, today representing about 3% of all live births in some countries. Most patients have to undergo more than one treatment in order to achieve a live birth. Thus cumulative live birth rates are highly interesting to the patients. LÄS MER
