    Sammanfattning : One of the still big problems in the Standard Model of particle physics is the problem of confinement. Quarks or other coloured particles have never been observed in isolation.     Sammanfattning : In materials with open 3$d$ and 4$f$ shells the valence electrons are relatively localized around the atoms which leads to large electron-electron correlations. These, so called strongly correlated materials, exhibit many intriguing properties such as high $T_c$ superconductivity, colossal magneto-resistance and heavy fermion behaviour. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The four articles contained in this thesis all concern aspects of model building beyond the Standard Model (BSM). While Paper I mainly serves as a ``tool paper'' in which the results can be used to simplify certain calculations of one-loop effects from new heavy particles, Paper II--IV all deal with consequences of family symmetries in several BSM scenarios.
