1. Characterization of Electrodeposited Fe-based Metallic Coatings: Toward a Sustainable Approach
Sammanfattning : Electrodeposition has rapidly grown in the last 50 years and it has been applied to deposit metals and alloys with complex shapes or to produce fully dense nanostructures and amorphous coatings. Thanks to the achieved improved properties of the electrodeposited materials, electrodeposition has been applied in a wide set of applications including protective coatings, and magnetic and electronic applications. 2. Rapid solidification behaviour of Fe and Al based alloys
Sammanfattning : Rapid solidification experiment on Fe-Cr-Mo-Mn-Si-C alloy was performed to investigate metastable phases formed during the solidification. A wide range of cooling rate was used to analyse the sample from melt spinning technique (~107 K/s) to water quenching method (~102 K/s). LÄS MER
3. Beyond Breakaway Corrosion: Secondary Corrosion Protection of Iron-based Alloys
Sammanfattning : Metallic materials intended for high temperature applications must resist both mechanical and environmental degradation. The ability to withstand corrosion is an important aspect of high temperature materials and is of major concern in, for example, heat and power production. LÄS MER
4. Beyond Breakaway Corrosion: Investigating the Secondary corrosion protection of Iron-based alloys
Sammanfattning : High temperature corrosion of metallic materials remains a major challenge for many in-dustrial applications. The challenges of high temperature corrosion are often addressed by using highly alloyed materials such as stainless steels or FeCrAl alloys. LÄS MER
5. Mechanical Properties of Transition Metal Alloys from First-PrinciplesTheory
Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to investigate the alloying and temperature effects on the mechanical properties of body-centered cubic (bcc) random alloys. We employ the all-electron exact muffin-tin orbitals method in combination with the coherent-potential approximation. LÄS MER
