    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molybdenum; iron; thorium; uranium.; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Astronomy; space research; cosmic chemistry; Astronomi; rymdvetenskap; kosmisk kemi; Condensed matter:electronic structure; electrical; spektroskopi; magnetisk resonans; supraledare; magnetiska och optiska ; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; spectroscopy; relaxation; magnetic resonance; magnetic and optical properties; supraconductors; astrophysics; radiative lifetimes; oscillator strengths; term analysis; Fourier transform spectroscopy; branching fractions; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Nilsson;

    Sammanfattning : The new generation of high resolution astronomical instruments such as the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) or the Very Large Telescope (VLT) has renewed the demand for accurate atomic parameters like wavelengths, oscillator strengths and line profiles accompanied by reliable uncertainty estimates. Fourier transform spectroscopy has proven to be a powerful tool when measuring these parameters. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Stochastic Chemical Evolution : A Study of Scatter in Relative Elemental Abundances in Extremely Metal-poor Stars

    Författare :Torgny Karlsson; Bengt Gustafsson; Mike Edmunds; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomy; nucleosynthesis; chemical evolution; Galactic evolution; supernovae; chemical abundances; Population II stars; Astronomi; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical evolution addresses the problem of the formation of the chemical elements and their evolution throughout the history of the universe. This thesis discusses in particular the chemical evolution in the young universe and what we may learn from the observations of the oldest stars. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Laboratory and Stellar Spectra in High Resolution: Studies of Fe, Pt and Tl in Peculiar Stars

    Författare :Gabriele Kalus; Fysiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high-resolution spectroscopy; hyperfine structure; peculiar stars; iron; platinum; lead; upsilon Sagittarii; HR7775; chi Lupi; isotope shift; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Kalus;

    Sammanfattning : The near-infrared spectrum of upsilon Sagittarii has been registered using the SOFIN high resolution spectrometer on the Nordic Optic Telescope, La Palma. For the first time 4f-5g transitions of Fe II in any astrophysical spectrum have been identified. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Iron absorption in man - diet modification and fortification

    Författare :Michael Hoppe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Iron absorption; Serum iron; Relative bioavailability; Elemental iron; Iron bioavailability; Iron fortification; Dietary modification; Developing countries;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Iron (Fe) deficiency is globally the most common form of nutrient deficiency. The approach to combat this problem can be divided into two major strategies a): increasing the dietary Fe bioavailability by diet modification, or b): increasing the Fe intake through fortification.
