  1. 21. Recombinant CXCR4/CCR5 hybrid receptors as tools for studies of HIV-1 receptor usage

    Författare :Liselotte Antonsson; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; evolution; pathogenesis; cerebrospinal fluid; Medicine human and vertebrates ; TAK-779; RANTES; CXCR4; CCR5; coreceptor; GPCR; HIV-1;

    Sammanfattning : The chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4 are required, together with CD4, for the entry of HIV-1 into target cells. CCR5 using HIV-1 dominates during transmission and the asymptomatic phase of infection. During progression, virus phenotypes with the ability to use CXCR4 emerge in about 50% of infected individuals. 2. 22. Circulating Human Basophils and Dendritic Cell Subsets. Aspects of antigen recognition and presentation in type I allergic immune responses

    Författare :Frida Rydnert; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dendritic cells; basophils; allergy; pattern-recognition receptors; allergen-specific immunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic diseases currently affect a third of the population in the industrialized parts of the world. Despite this, the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the induction and activation of allergic diseases are not fully clarified. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Immunomodulatory Therapy of Solid Tumors : With a Focus on Monoclonal Antibodies

    Författare :Linda Sandin; Thomas Tötterman; Mangsbo Sara; Fredrik Eriksson; Loskog Angelica; Ola Winqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; in situ checkpoint blockade; antibody-mediated tumor immunotherapy; CTLA-4; CD40; monoclonal antibodies; experimental animal model; Fc gamma receptor; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer, historically considered a genetic disease, is currently acknowledged to affect the whole body. Our immune system is one key player that can elicit a response against malignant cells but can also promote tumorigenesis. Tumors avoid immune recognition by creating a suppressive microenvironment and inducing tolerance. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Rational and Combinatorial Engineering of Affinity Proteins Towards Therapeutical Applications

    Författare :Johan Seijsing; Torbjörn Gräslund; Uhlén Mathias; Inger Sandlie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neonatal Fc receptor; FcRn; affibody molecule; immunoglobulin G IgG ; serum albumin SA ; albumin binding domain ABD ; half-life extension; blocking; autoimmune disease; pH-dependence; GAD67; GAD-1; gene therapy; Parkinson’s disease; zinc finger based artificial transcription factor; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein engineering has had an immense impact on the development of biological drugs, including replacement therapies with engineered versions of insulin or factor VIII to treat diabetes or bleeding disorders, and monoclonal antibodies to treat cancer and various other malignancies. Now, with the next generation of treatment modalities coming up, including monoclonal reagents based on alternative scaffolds, gene and cell therapies, the importance of protein engineering to tailor-make these treatments is likely to increase further. 5. 25. Studies on O-glycosylation of mucin-type proteins and their binding to antibodies, bacterial toxins and viral receptors

    Författare :Stefan Gaunitz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Carbohydrates are ubiquitous on the surface of all cells in mammals where they are involved in interactions with the surroundings (extracellular matrix), other cells (including self and non-self) and microbes (bacteria and virus). Carbohydrate-protein interactions in nature are often mediated via multivalent binding where the combined strength of multiple receptor- ligand interactions results in a binding that is highly specific and strong.
