    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Phospholipids; Megakaryocyte; Lysophosphatidylcholine; Lipoproteins; Linoleic acid; Intralipid; Interconversion; Gastrointestinal tract; Plasma free fatty acids; Fasting; Dietary fatty acids; Desaturase; Cholesterol; Chylomicron remnant; Chylomicron; Arachidonic acid; Bone marrow; Platelets; Protein S; Prothrombin; Triglycerides.; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates pathways by which the eicosanoid precursor pools in the platelets, bone marrow and the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa are acquired and regulated, and in this context some aspects on the interaction between triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins and platelets. 1. 2. 2. Regulation of Elovl and fatty acid metabolism

    Författare :Annelie Brolinson; Anders Jacobsson; Jaap Keijer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fatty acid metabolism; fatty acid elongation; Physiology; Fysiologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Fatty acids are important regulators in the control of mammalian energy homeostasis. They are ingested in the diet but a significant amount are also endogenously produced by de novo lipogenesis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Elovl3 and very long chain fatty acids; role in metabolism

    Författare :Andreas Jakobsson; Anders Jacobsson; James Ntambi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fatty acids metabolism elongation; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Fatty acids (FA) are important in several aspects of cellular function, for example as structural molecules and metabolic substrates. The bulk of FA up to 16 carbons (palmitic acid) in length are synthesised by a cytosolic enzyme complex called fatty acid synthase (FAS), while FA can be further elongated into very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) by membrane-bound enzymes in the endoplasmatic reticulum (ER). 4. 4. A molecular chaperone that governs membrane contact sites and lipid metabolism

    Författare :Sergi Tosal Castaño; Sabrina Büttner; W. Mike Henne; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Yeast; nucleus-vacuole junctions; proteostasis; unfolded protein response; fatty acid elongation; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Transmembrane proteins represent almost one third of the total cellular proteome, and the majority of them requires translocation into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to be folded, sorted and transported to their final subcellular destination. High translational rates during exponential cell growth result in a massive influx of immature proteins into the ER, requiring rapid and accurate folding. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transcriptional regulation in salmonids with emphasis on lipid metabolism : in vitro and in vivo studies

    Författare :Anna Schiller Vestergren; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Fish is a vital source of valuable omega-3 (n-3) fatty acids (FA) in the human diet. With declining commercial fisheries, aquaculture fish constitute a growing proportion of human consumption. LÄS MER
