1. Cell fate specification by Ras-mediated cell signalling in C. elegans
Sammanfattning : Induction of vulval fates in the C. elegans hermaphrodite is mediated by a conserved RTK/Ras/MAP kinase signalling pathway, in which the core components can be placed into a linear genetic and biochemical pathway. However, the events that occur downstream of this pathway are not yet well understood. LÄS MER
2. Early fate decisions in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Through the lens of genomic and functional assays
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are rare cells on top of the differentiation hierarchy of hematopoiesis. HSCs are unique in their combined capacity to differentiate into all mature blood lineages and self-renew to maintain the HSC pool. LÄS MER
3. A Comparative Study of Head Development in Mexican Axolotl and Australian Lungfish: Cell Migration, Cell Fate and Morphogenesis
Sammanfattning : The development of the vertebrate head is a complex process involving interactions between a multitude of cell types and tissues. This thesis describes the development of the cranial neural crest and of the visceral arch muscles in the head of two species. LÄS MER
4. Characterization of human myeloid progenitors and their differentiation
Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages. 5. Distribution and regulation of auxin in Arabidopsis root cells
Sammanfattning : The plant hormone auxin (IAA) coordinates many of the important processes in plant development. For example, IAA is critical for normal embryogenesis, root development, cell elongation, and the tropic responses such as gravitropism and phototropism. LÄS MER
