  1. 11. Pharmacological Studies of Four Neuropeptide Y-family Receptor Subtypes

    Författare :Paula Sjödin; Dan Larhammar; Nina Mohell; Nigel Levens; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacology; Farmakologi; Pharmacological research; Farmakologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : The neuropeptide Y (NPY) family of structurally related peptides includes NPY, peptide YY (PYY) and pancreatic polypeptide (PP). They bind to G-protein coupled receptors named Y receptors, and include in mammals Y1, Y2, Y4, Y5, Y6 and in non-mammalian vertebrates also Y7, Yb and Yc. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Development and Evaluation of Nonparametric Mixed Effects Models

    Författare :Paul Baverel; Mats Karlsson; Radojka Savic; Nils Hoem; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nonparametric; model; pharmacometrics; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamic; imprecision; covariate analysis; parameter distribution; Statistics; computer and systems science; Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap; Pharmaceutical pharmacology; Farmaceutisk farmakologi; Biopharmaceutics; Biofarmaci; Clinical Pharmacology; Klinisk farmakologi; Computer Systems; Datorteknik; Farmakologi; Pharmacology; Statistics; Statistik;

    Sammanfattning : A nonparametric population approach is now accessible to a more comprehensive network of modelers given its recent implementation into the popular NONMEM application, previously limited in scope by standard parametric approaches for the analysis of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data. The aim of this thesis was to assess the relative merits and downsides of nonparametric models in a nonlinear mixed effects framework in comparison with a set of parametric models developed in NONMEM based on real datasets and when applied to simple experimental settings, and to develop new diagnostic tools adapted to nonparametric models. 3. 13. Cannabinoids as modulators of cancer cell viability, neuronal differentiation, and embryonal development

    Författare :Sofia Gustafsson; Stig Jacobsson; Birgitta Sander; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cannabinoids; cell viability; neuronal differentiation; colorectal cancer; chick embryo; biokemisk farmakologi; biochemical pharmacology; Toxicology; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cannabinoids (CBs) are compounds that activate the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB receptors mediate many different physiological functions, and cannabinoids have been reported to decrease tumor cell viability, proliferation, migration, as well as to modulate metastasis. LÄS MER

  4. 14. From Food Preference to Craving : Behavioural Traits and Molecular Mechanisms

    Författare :Johan Alsiö; Helgi B Schiöth; Jonas Lindblom; Anna M Kindlundh-Högberg; Suzanne Dickson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obesity; Reward; Food preferences; Dietary fats; Dietary carbohydrates; Anxiety; Dopamine; Craving; Operant self-administration; Pharmacology; Farmakologi; Farmakologi; Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Preference for palatable and energy-dense foods may be a risk factor for body weight gain and has both genetic and environmental components. Once obesity develops in an individual, weight loss is difficult to achieve. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Nucleoside analoge cytotoxicity-focus on enzyme regulation, metabolism, and mechanisms of resistance

    Författare :Anna Fyrberg; Kourosh Lotfi; Curt Peterson; Freidoun Albertioni; Francoise Bontemps; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacology; Farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to determine the role of nucleoside analog activating and deactivating enzymes in nucleoside analog metabolism and resistance development. Nucleoside analogs are anti-cancer drogs and are often used to treat different leukemias, attributably to presence of high levels of nucleoside analog activating enzymes in hematopoietic cells.
