  1. 21. Quality Inspection and Evaluation of Smart or Functional Textile Fabric Surface by Skin Contact Mechanics

    Författare :Melkie Getnet Tadesse; Cristian Vasile; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tactile comfort; expert; subjective evalaution; objective evalaution; smart fabric; functional fabric; skin contact; KES; sensory evalaution; sensory perception;

    Sammanfattning : The rapid progress in consuming e-textiles has made a huge uprising in the researcher’s track on the course of smart and functional textile development. Consumption of functional and smart textiles in the wearable e-textile is fetching extra eye-catching scheme owing to its lightweight property, flexibility, stretchability, and the ability to be integrated into wearable apparel. 2. 22. Phenotypic plasticity and local adaptation in tadpoles

    Författare :Björn Lardner; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; salinity tolerance; trade-off; life-history; tail depth; inducible defence; antipredator strategies; tadpoles; anurans; amphibians; Phenotypic plasticity; local adaptation; competitive ability; allozymes.; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Amphibian larvae are plastic in many traits. Can plasticity buffer population divergence, so that local adaptation is more common in non-plastic traits? I argue that this may be the case for adaptive plastic responses. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Predator-prey interactions in freshwater systems: The importance of chemical communication

    Författare :Kajsa Åbjörnsson; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine biology; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi; Ecology; Ekologi; Hydrobiology; trophic cascades; non-lethal effects; benefits; costs; heredity; predator experience; alarmsubstances; dietary cues; amphibian larvae; invertebrates; visibility; fish; behaviour; Predator-prey; chemical cues;

    Sammanfattning : Predator released chemical cues provide a valuable source of information to prey organisms that can be used to alter their behaviour in order to reduce predation risk. In this thesis, I have examined under what circumstances chemical cues may be used by prey, and if prey discriminate between different cues. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Sjötrafik har alltid haft en stor betydelse för vårt samhälle genom att transportera gods och människor mellan och inom länder. Transporter till sjöss har stora fördelar associerat till relativt låga klimatutsläpp och transportkostnader. Tyvärr medför sjötrafik även en negativ påverkan på vår miljö. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Surgical patients need knowledge to participate in their own care and to engage in self-care behaviour in the perioperative period which is important for their recovery. Patient education facilitates such knowledge acquisition and several methods can be used to facilitate it, for example, face-to-face education and brochures or using information technology such as website or computer games.
