1. The Far-Red Limit of Photosynthesis
Sammanfattning : The photosynthetic process has the unique ability to capture energy from sunlight and accumulate that energy in sugars and starch. This thesis deals with the light driven part of photosynthesis. LÄS MER
2. Secondary chlorophyll a luminescence decay kinetics from green algae and higher plants : mechanisms and application
Sammanfattning : Barley protoplasts were shown to be a suitable experimental system for studies on the relative maximum during the decay of luminescence observed in most photosynthetic systems after excitation with far red light and in the presence of O2. The far red induced relative luminescencemaximum was shown to be a result of three coinciding events:*Randomization of the S-states of the water splitting system during illumination with far red light. 3. Epigenetic Regulation of Light and Hormonal Signaling in Arabidopsis thaliana
Sammanfattning : Plants are stationary and need to adapt to the environment they live in. Integration of environmental cues, such as changes in light and temperature, can occur either directly or through the action of hormones. Hormone and light signaling leads to rapid changes in gene expression, and eventually changes in protein levels. LÄS MER
4. Studies of the two redox active tyrosines in Photosystem II
Sammanfattning : Photosystem II is a unique enzyme which catalyzes light induced water oxidation. This process is driven by highly oxidizing ensemble of four Chl molecules, PD1, PD2, ChlD1 and ChlD2 called, P680. Excitation of one of the Chls in P680 leads to the primary charge separation, P680+Pheo-. LÄS MER
5. Photophosphorylation as mediated by vitamin K₃ in broken spinach chloroplasts
Sammanfattning : The effects of DCMU on menadione or menadione sodium bisulphite (MSB) mediated photophosphorylation in broken chloroplasts kept in a Tricine or in a HEPES buffer at either high (131 W m-2) or low irradiance (57 W m-2) in combination with NaN3, KCN, under white, red or far red light, were studied. Some combinations of the factors tested created a system where DCMU inhibited cyclic ATP formation, whereas other combinations created a system insensitive to DCMU or even with a stimulation of ATP formation by presence of the inhibitor.
