  1. 6. Adenovirus-host interactions : implications for tropism and therapy

    Författare :Annasara Lenman; Niklas Arnberg; Lennart Svensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenoviridae; Amino Acids; Antiviral Agents; Epithelial Cells; Factor IX;

    Sammanfattning : Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) are common viruses often associated withgastrointestinal, ocular and respiratory infections. They can infect a widevariety of cells, both dividing and non-dividing. HAdVs attach to and infecttarget cells through interactions with cellular receptors. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Prognostic factors in renal cell carcinoma : evaluation of erythropoietin and its receptor, carbonic anhydrase IX, parathyroid hormone-related protein and osteopontin

    Författare :Karin Papworth; Torgny Rasmuson; Börje Ljungberg; Kjell Grankvist; Sten Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Renal cell carcinoma; EPO; EPO-R; CA IX; PTHrP; OPN; prognosis; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : A prognostic factor is a marker or a feature that can be used to estimate the risk of recurrence of disease, metastatic spread and clinical outcome. Despite intensive search for more sophisticated markers in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), few have added prognostic information to earlier described factors like stage of disease, nuclear grade, tumour type, and in metastatic disease; performance status, anaemia, hypercalcaemia and increased erythrocyte sedimentation. 3. 8. Haemophilia B - Diagnostic Insights, Genetic Aspects and Clinical Outcomes

    Författare :Kristina Kihlberg; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coagulation factor IX; Haemophilia B; Haemophilia A; F9 variant; Assay discrepancy; Chromogenic assay; One-stage assay; Bleeding disorders; Quality of life; Immune tolerance induction; Non-neutralising antibodies; Inhibitors; Treatment Adherence; Arthropathy;

    Sammanfattning : Haemophilia B (HB) is a rare inherited bleeding disorder caused by the deficiency of coagulation factor IX (FIX). The major clinical issues are bleedings, often targeting the joints, and the development of neutralising antibodies, i.e. inhibitors, to the FIX replacement therapy. LÄS MER

  4. 9. The N-terminal EGF Module of Coagulation factor IX. Studies of Calcium Binding and Module Interactions

    Författare :Kristina Persson; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coagulation FIX EGF module calcium binding interaction; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Coagulation factor IX (FIX) is a vitamin K-dependent serine protease zymogen that circulates in plasma. Defects in FIX cause the bleeding disorder hemophilia B. FIX contains a Gla module, two Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) -like modules and a serine protease region. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Angiogenesis in human renal cell carcinoma : hypoxia, vascularity and prognosis

    Författare :Johanna Sandlund; Torgny Rasmuson; Börje Ljungberg; Kjell Grankvist; Anders Bergh; Elisabeth Kjellén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endoglin CD105; CD31; prognosis; CA IX; HIF-2α; renal cell carcinoma; tissue microarray; immunohistochemistry; real-time PCR; stage; grade; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Angiogenesis is recognised as a critical step in tumour progression. The angiogenic switch is activated by various trigger signals, such as hypoxia, low pH, and genetic mutations. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is often an aggressive tumour, and advanced disease has limited treatment options and bad prognosis. LÄS MER
