  1. 11. Alphaherpesvirus infections of the central nervous system – Biomarkers, diagnostics and antiviral therapy

    Författare :Johan Lindström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; herpesviruses; central nervous system; facial paralysis; cerebrospinal fluid; biomarkers; acyclovir; neurotoxicity; syndromic testing;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Herpesviruses predate the evolution of humans and are globally ubiquitous. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), and varicella-zoster virus (VZV) establish latency in neuronal tissue and may cause infections in the central nervous system (CNS).     Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multimodal Signal Processing; Mobile Communication; Vibrotactile Rendering; Locally Linear Embedding; Object Detection; Human Facial Expression Analysis; Lip Tracking; Object Tracking; HCI; Expectation-Maximization Algorithm; Lipless Tracking; Image Analysis; Visually Impaired.; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation; Systems engineering; Systemteknik; datoriserad bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis; business data processing; administrativ databehandling; Electronics; elektronik; Systems Analysis; systemanalys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses a challenging problem: “how to let the visually impaired ‘see’ others emotions”. We, human beings, are heavily dependent on facial expressions to express ourselves. A smile shows that the person you are talking to is pleased, amused, relieved etc. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Neuroborreliosis in childhood : Clinical, immunological and diagnostic aspects

    Författare :Barbro Hedin Skogman; Pia Forsberg; Jan Ernerudh; Birger Trollfors; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroborreliosis; Immune response; Diagnostics; Children; Lyme Borreliosis; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Lyme Borreliosisis is a multi-organ infectious disease caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi. The spirochete is transmitted to humans by tick bites. Neuroborreliosis (NB) is a disseminated form of the disease, in which the spirochetes invade the nervous system. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Aspects on Head and neck Cancer with special reference to Salivary Gland Tumours and Single Nucleotide Polymorphism

  5. 15. Peripheral neuropathy in Lyme borreliosis

    Författare :Eva Kindstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Lyme borreliosis; neuroborreliosis; acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans; peripheral neuropathy; cranial neuropathy;

    Sammanfattning : Tick-transmitted Lyme borreliosis (LB) is frequently associated with manifestations from the peripheral nervous system. One aim of the thesis was to describe the relationship between peripheral neuropathy and LB by prospective studies of a) LB in some defined neurological conditions with peripheral nerve engagement and b) peripheral neuropathy in the late dermatological LB manifestation acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans (ACA).
