  1. 1. On Ingeae Systematics of synandrous mimosoids

    Författare :Julia Ferm; Bertil Ståhl; Tiina Särkinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fabaceae; Ingeae; Systematics; Phylogenetics; Taxonomy; Morphology; Biology with specialization in Systematics; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The Ingeae tribe (Caesalpiniodeae, Fabaceae) has a long history of taxonomic complexity with genera being merged and split, and many species with former placements in several different genera. Moreover, phylogenetic studies have shown that the tribe is non-monophyletic with the genus Acacia (of tribe Acacieae) nested within Ingeae. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetic variation and population differentiation in the forest herb Lathyrus vernus (Fabaceae)

    Författare :Katarina Schiemann; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .; taxonomy; morphology; phytogeography; inbreeding depression; Systematic botany; small population size; marginality; reproductive characters; leaflet shape; allozymes; Lathyrus vernus; genetic variation;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, I investigated patterns of genetic variation in the forest herb Lathyrus vernus (Fabaceae), using plant material from different-sized populations representing three geographically separated regions: central Europe, southern and central Sweden. My studies included presumably neutral or weakly selected characters (allozymes and leaflet shape) as well as characters that should be under strong directional selection (e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Polyploid Phylogenetics in Plants: Insights on non-model organisms in Fabaceae and Malvaceae

    Författare :Jonna S. Eriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diploidization; genome duplication; haplotypes; Hibisceae; Hibiscus; homoeologues; high-throughput sequencing; Pavonia; Malvaceae; polyploidization;

    Sammanfattning : Genome duplication is a common phenomenon in angiosperms and advances in sequencing technologies and bioinformatics is now revealing its prevalence and significance. In a polyploidization event all genes in a genome are doubled. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Secondary Metabolites from Mozambican Plants

    Författare :Julião Monjane; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :Secondary metabolites; Mozambique; Medicinal plants; Isolation; Structural elucidation; Antileishmanial activity;

    Sammanfattning : Products derived from different natural sources have been used for thousands of years by human beings for their everyday needs. Out of these natural sources, plants were the most affordable. Plant-derived products were used for shelter, food, and as medicines. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Botanical Repellents and Pesticides Traditionally Used Against Haematophagous Invertebrates in Lao PDR

    Författare :Chanda Vongsombath; Thomas Jaenson; Raimondas Mozuraitis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ethnobotany; fly larvae; Lao PDR; medical entomology; mosquito repellents; myiasis; plant-based insecticides; terrestrial leeches; Haemadipsidae; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik; Biology with specialization in Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : Haematophagous parasites and disease vectors such as leeches, ticks, mites, lice, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and myiasis-causing fly larvae are common health problems in Lao Peoples Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). A main aim of my field work in Lao PDR in 2006-2010 was to document traditional knowledge among different ethnic groups about plants that people use to repel or to kill blood-feeding invertebrates.
