  1. 1. Immunological Studies using Human and Canine Model Disorders

    Författare :Kerstin M. Ahlgren; Anna Lobell; Olle Kämpe; Kerstin Lindblad-Toh; Roland Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoimmunity; T cell; T helper cell; B cell; Autoantibodies; Interferon; Interleukin; Dogs; APS-1; Candida albicans; fungus; Immunologi; Immunology; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The studies presented in this thesis focus on human and canine models for autoimmune disease, with the main aim to gain new knowledge about disease mechanisms and to further evaluate the dog as a model for autoimmune disease. Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndrome type 1 (APS-1) is a hereditary human multiorgan disease caused by mutations in the autoimmune regulator (AIRE) gene. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Determination of the Critical Moisture Level for Mould Growth on Building Materials

    Författare :Pernilla Johansson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Crawl space; Fungus; Mould resistance; Wood; Building materials; Mould; Critical moisture level; Attic; Relative humidity; Cyclic conditions; Laboratory method;

    Sammanfattning : The susceptibility to mould growth varies between building materials. The factors that most affect mould growth, the relative humidity (RH) and temperature also vary in different parts of buildings. One way of preventing the growth of mould in buildings is therefore to choose building materials that can withstand the expected conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Secondary metabolites from the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum

    Författare :Christina Nord; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The production of secondary metabolites by the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum was investigated. G. vellereum is a wood decomposing basidiomycete fungus that arrives at dead trunks of fallen hard wood trees at a later stage of the decomposition process and hence need to outcompete the organisms already colonizing the site. 4. 4. Neurospora tetrasperma from Natural Populations : Toward the Population Genomics of a Model Fungus

    Författare :Pádraic Corcoran; Hanna Johannesson; Sylvain Glemin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurospora; poulation genetics; genomes; introgression; Evolutionary Genetics; Evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The study of DNA sequence variation is a powerful approach to study genome evolution, and to reconstruct evolutionary histories of species. In this thesis, I have studied genetic variation in the fungus Neurospora tetrasperma and other closely related Neurospora species. I have focused on N. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Infection biology of the plant pathogenic fungus Bipolaris sorokiniana

    Författare :Dace Apoga; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microscopy; Hordeum vulgare; barley; virulence; prehelminthosporol; phytotoxins; proteins; adhesion; fimbriae; extracellular matrix; Helminthosporium sativum; Cochliobolus sativus; Plant pathogenic fungi; Bipolaris sorokiniana; two-dimensional gel electrophoresis; mass spectrometry; gas chromatography; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Bipolaris sorokiniana is a fungal pathogen causing severe disease mainly in wheat and barley worldwide. In this thesis two aspects of the infection process were investigated: the adhesion mechanism of the fungus and the role of the non-host specific phytotoxin prehelminthosporol (PHL) in the disease. Adhesion of B. LÄS MER
