    Sammanfattning : The objects of this PhD thesis are Southern Swedish painted wall-hangings: folk art paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. The aim and objective of the study are: to investigate the construction and manufacturing processes of the painted wall-hangings; to identify both the painting materials and other substances employed; and, to document painting techniques used by different painters within this painted wall-hanging tradition. 3. 3. Extended Mercerization Prior to Carboxymethyl Cellulose Preparation

    Författare :Heléne Almlöf; Ulf Germgård; Björn Kreutz; Monica Ek; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Carboxymethyl cellulose; Mercerization; DS; FT Raman spectroscopy; Filtration ability; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is produced commercially in a two-stage process consisting of a mercerization stage, where the pulp is treated with alkali in a water alcohol solution, followed by an etherification stage in which monochloroacetic acid is added to the pulp slurry. In this thesis an extended mercerization stage of a spruce ether pulp was investigated where the parameters studied were the ratio of cellulose I and II, concentration of alkali, temperature and retention time. 4. 4. Radiotherapy Gel Dosimetry: Development and Application of Normoxic Polymer Gels

    Författare :Helen Gustafsson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Radiopharmaceutical technology; proton; LET; FT Raman spectroscopy; MRI; normoxic gel; IMRT; 3D verification; polymer gel dosimetry; radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In many radiotherapy applications, true three-dimensional dosimetry with good spatial resolution that can be achieved in a single measurement would be of great value. Polymer gel dosimetry fulfils many of the demands on such a system. In this study, methods to facilitate the implementation of gel dosimetry have been investigated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mercerization and Enzymatic Pretreatment of Cellulose in Dissolving Pulps

    Författare :Heléne Almlöf Ambjörnsson; Ulf Germgård; Thomas Nilsson; Storker Moe; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; alkali; carboxymethyl cellulose; cellulose I; cellulose II; cellulose dissolution; degree of substitution; enzymatic treatment; filterability; gel formation; mercerization; multivariate analytical methods; NIR FT Raman spectroscopy; sodium hydroxide; zink oxide; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the preparation of chemically and/or enzymatically modified cellulose. This modification can be either irreversible or reversible. Irreversible modification is used to prepare cellulose derivatives as end products, whereas reversible modification is used to enhance solubility in the preparation of regenerated cellulose. LÄS MER
