1. Active Health Monitoring of Aerospace Composite Structures by Embedded Piezoceramic Transducers
Sammanfattning : The objectives of the thesis work were to study theinteraction between embedded piezoceramic transducers andcomposite structures as well as determine techniques tosimplify the Lamb waves analysis. Firstly, this studyconsidered the design of the embedded piezoceramic transducers. LÄS MER
2. Simulation-driven design : Motives, Means, and Opportunities
Sammanfattning : Efficiency and innovative problem solving are contradictory requirements for productdevelopment (PD), and both requirements must be satisfied in companies that strive to remainor to become competitive. Efficiency is strongly related to ”doing things right”, whereasinnovative problem solving and creativity is focused on ”doing the right things”. LÄS MER
3. The Hemming Process: A Numerical and Experimental Study
Sammanfattning : Finite element simulations of hemming, a method used in the automotive industry to join two sheet metal panels by bending the flange of the outer panel over the inner one, are dealt with in this thesis. This method is used mainly for assembly of closures in automotive bodies (i.e. side doors, hoods, trunk lids and tailgates). LÄS MER
4. Impact Simulation of Adhesively Joined Structures
Sammanfattning : The development of competitive and crashworthy automotive car bodies has reached so far that the manufacturers no longer rely on mono-material steel structures. Improved strength/weight performance may be achieved by using optimal material in each part of the car structure, leading to bi-material joints and ruling out spot welding; the common joining method during the past half century of automotive history. 5. Control of Cracking due to Imposed Strains in Concrete Structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with crack control due to imposed deformations in concrete structures. The objective of crack control may either be to prevent cracking or to limit the crack widths. The aim here is to increase the knowledge in both fields for some common structures. Five papers are included and the three last concern crack development. LÄS MER
