  1. 1. Process development and environmental assessment within softwood based biorefineries

    Författare :Karin Carlqvist; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sugar platform; extractives; steam explosion; pretreatment; bark; enzymatic hydrolysis; phenolic compounds; bioeconomy; LCA; Pinus sylvestris; Picea abies; pine; spruce; sockerplattform; extraktivämnen; Steam explosion SE ; förbehandling lignocellulosa; bark; enzymatisk hydrolys; fenoler; bioekonomi; LCA; Pinus sylvestris; Picea abies; tall; gran;

    Sammanfattning : We urgently need to move from a fossil-based to a bio-based society. From a Swedish perspective, a promising way forward are biorefineries with an integrated production of materials, chemicals, and energy from the softwood species Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Norway spruce (Picea abies). 2. 2. Bark Biorefinery : Isolation, Characterization and Application

    Författare :Isabella Kwan; Monica Ek; Åsa Emmer; Anette Larsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sustainability; bark; biorefinery; Norway spruce; nanocellulose; Pickering emulsion; organosolv; extraction; lignin; Hållbarhet; bark; bioraffinaderi; gran; nanocellulosa; Pickering emulsioner; organosolv; extraktion; lignin; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : To fulfill the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals, there is a need to transition from a petroleum-based society toward a more sustainable one which requires new solutions and the production of materials, chemicals, and energy from renewable resources. Using side-stream products from industries to produce value-added products will be economically beneficial. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Antimicrobial materials from cellulose using environmentally friendly techniques

    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibacterial; antifungal; cellulosic; mold; bacteria; biobased; bio-based; renewable; insulation; packaging; water treatment; water purification; paper filter; paper; membrane; Antibakteriell; fungicid; mögel; antimögel; pappersfilter; vattenrening; membran; papper; bakterier; cellulosa; förpackning; isolering; förnyelsebar; biobaserade; nya material; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The transition to a more biobased society introduces both new opportunities and new challenges as we replace nonrenewable materials with renewable alternatives. One important challenge will be to control microbial growth on materials, both to protect the materials from biological degradation and to prevent the spread of infections and toxins that can cause illness. 4. 4. Water resistance of Scots pine joints produced by linear friction welding

    Författare :Mojgan Vaziri; Lars-Olof Nilsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wood; wood welding; crack; CT scanning; image processing; MRI; microdensitometry; CPMAS C NMR; density; water absorption; tensile-shear strength; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Wood welding is a mechanical friction process allowing the assembly of timber without any adhesives. The process consists of applying mechanical friction, under pressure, alternately to the two wood surfaces to be welded. LÄS MER
