1. Fluid biomarkers of extracellular matrix remodelling across neurological diseases
Sammanfattning : Neurological diseases constitute a major health and socioeconomic issue. Despite an enormous amount of research going on globally, the prevalence and mortality of neurological disorders are still rising. LÄS MER
2. Extracellular matrix in atherosclerotic plaques: its role in plaque stability
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a systemic disease affecting the large arteries caused by the accumulation of lipids in the vessel wall. Cardiovascular disease due to atherosclerosis is today the most common cause of death globally through its end consequences: myocardial infarctions and stroke. LÄS MER
3. A population-based study on early arthritis in southern Sweden : Incidence, preceding infections, diagnostic markers and economic burden
Sammanfattning : The total annual incidence of arthritis in this prospective cross-sectional study on adults was 115/100 000. The annual incidence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was 24/100 000, 29/100 000 for women, and 18/100 000 for men. For reactive arthritis (ReA) the annual incidence was slightly higher, 28/100 000, and for undifferentiated arthritis 41/100 000. LÄS MER
4. Tissue engineering in blood vessels
Sammanfattning : Severely occluded coronary- and peripheral arteries, caused by atherosclerotic plaques, are treated with bypass surgery. Autologous veins are the most commonly used replacement graft. Among the patients that need a vascular bypass, 5-10% lack appropriate replacement veins due to previous surgery of bad quality of the vessels. LÄS MER
5. Mesenchymal heterogeneity in the adult human lung
Sammanfattning : The human lung is a complex tissue consisting of a heterogeneous mix of different structures and cells, each which a specific role that together contribute to the primary function of the organ: the gas exchange. Different mesenchymal cells populate the interstitial areas around airways and blood vessels and form the connective tissue together with the extracellular matrix. LÄS MER
