  1. 1. Strategies for building polymers from renewable sources : Using prepolymers from steam treatment of wood and monomers from fermentation of agricultural products

    Författare :Margaretha Söderqvist Lindblad; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :renewable sources; biodegradable polymers; hemicellulose; 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate; modification of hemicellulose; methacrylation reaction; rheology measurements; dynamic-mechanical behavior; 1; 3-propanediol; 1; 4-cyclohexanedimethanol; succinic ac;

    Sammanfattning : A strategic research area today is development of polymericproducts made from renewable sources. The ways of utilizingrenewable sources studied in this thesis are using 1)prepolymers obtained by steam treatment of wood and 2) monomersobtainable by fermentation of agricultural products. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sound propagation from sustainable ground vehicles : from aeroacoustic sources to urban noise

    Författare :Nicolas Pignier; Ciarán O'Reilly; Susann Boij; Gwenael Gabard; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sound propagation; sound generation; ground vehicle; aeroacoustics; aerodynamics; Kirchhoff approximation; detached eddy simulation; Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings; ljudutberdning; ljudalstring; markfordon; aeroakustik; aerodynamik; Kirchhoff approximation; detached eddy simulation; Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves. 3. 3. Extended Application of Robust Design Methodology

    Författare :Vanajah Siva Subramaniam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; practices; life cycle approach; Robust design methodology; back-end data; sustainable product development;

    Sammanfattning : Robust Design Methodology (RDM), a subset of Quality Management (QM), is an approach applied to the design phase of product development in order to manage variability in product performance by creating insensitivity to noise factors. Noise factors are sources of variation that cannot be readily controlled. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Situational sources of rule-breaking acts : an analytic criminology approach

    Författare :Alberto P. Chrysoulakis; Marie Torstensson Levander; Anna-Karin Ivert; Alfonso Serrano Maíllo; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; adolescents; collective efficacy; crime propensity; delinquency; mechanisms; morality; peers; rule-breaking; self-control; situational action theory; time-use; unstructured socialising; Kriminologi; Criminology;

    Sammanfattning : Criminology has long been divided by mainly focusing on people’s propensities to commit crimes, on the one hand, and environmental characteristics conducive to crime, on the other. Such a division must be bridged to advance knowledge about why some people, but not others, commit rule-breaking acts in some environments but not in others. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modeling and Estimation of Phase Noise in Oscillators with Colored Noise Sources

    Författare :M Reza Khanzadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase Noise Model; Bayesian Cramer-Rao Bound; Voltage-controlled Oscillator; Extended Kalman Filter Smoother; Maximum a Posteriori Estimator; Colored Phase Noise; Oscillator Phase Noise; Phase-Locked Loop; Mean Square Error.;

    Sammanfattning : The continuous increase in demand for higher data rates due to applications with massive number of users motivates the design of faster and more spectrum efficient communication systems. In theory, the current communication systems must be able to operate close to Shannon capacity bounds. LÄS MER
