21. Molecular Characterization of Genomic Amplifications in Pancreatic Cancer
Sammanfattning : Pancreatic cancer includes multiple histologic subtypes that show large differences in their clinical and biological characteristics. Despite this diversity, more than 85% of the neoplasms in the organ are malignant ductal adenocarcinomas, which are the focus of the present thesis. LÄS MER
22. Towards improved management of Lynch syndrome; ovarian cancer profiles, risk perception, knowledge and family perspectives
Sammanfattning : Lynch syndrome (hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer) is one of the most common hereditary cancer syndromes and predisposes to several cancer types, including cancer of the colorectum, endometrium and ovaries. Cancer develops at an early age and one third of the individuals are affected by a metachronous cancer. LÄS MER
23. Genomic profiling of breast cancer by microarray-based technology and bioinformatics
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a genetic disease that arises when a cell acquires unlimited growth potential through a series of mutational events, which target genes essential for normal cell control and maintenance. Breast cancer is one of the most frequent malignancies in women worldwide, and it is characterized by heterogeneous tumor biology, histological subtypes, variable prognosis and variable responsiveness to treatment. 24. Gene expression in the dorsal root ganglion and the role of PAI-1 and amphiregulin during regeneration
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with two aspects of peripheral nerve injury. First the early changes in the gene expression of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) in response to sciatic nerve injury as revealed by micro-array analysis. Second an examination of the effect of PAI-1 and amphiregulin on survival and axonal outgrowth from DRG. LÄS MER
25. Expression and regulation of Rad51 in human cells
Sammanfattning : Double strand breaks (DSBs) can be caused by exogenous DNA damaging agents or by endogenous processes, and may lead to chromosomal breakage and rearrangement resulting in apoptosis or tumorigenesis. The repair of DSBs in higher eukaryotes is to a large extent accomplished by homologous recombination (HR), a process in which DNA from a complementary strand is used as a template for repair synthesis.
