  1. 1. Regulation of TGF-β/Smad Signaling Through Smad Interacting Proteins

    Författare :Fumiko Itoh; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Peter ten Dijke; Carlos F. Ibáñez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily members are multi-functional regulators of cell fate. These factors signal by binding to a limited number of highly conserved transmembrane type I and type II serine/threonine kinase receptors. These receptors initiate signals into the cell via the Smad proteins. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular Cloning and Functional Characterization of Factors Involved in Post-transcriptional Gene Expression

    Författare :Shao-Bo Jin; Lars Wieslander; Maria Carmo-Fonseca; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene expression; pre-mRNA processing; pre-rRNA processing; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Gene expression in the eukaryotic cell is a fundamental cellular process, which consists of several distinct steps but extensively coupled to each other. From site of transcription in the nucleus to the cytoplasm, both mRNA and rRNA are associated with a proper set of proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional study of Nucleoporins Nup88 and Nup214 during Drosophila Development

    Författare :Nikos Xylourgidis; Christos Samakovlis; Valerie Doye; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mbo; Nup88; CAN; Nup214; NPC; CRM1; embargoed; NF-kB; REL; Dorsal; Dif; Drosophila; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : More than a million macromolecules per minute pass through the nuclear envelope of a eukaryotic cell. An important challenge is to understand how the NPC coordinate efficiently the bi-directional trafficking necessary for the basal cellular activities and the rapid translocation of regulatory proteins in response to signaling. 4. 4. Modulation of nuclear receptor function by interacting proteins

    Författare :Waffa Osman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors are a family of transcription factors involved in many biological processes. They represent key potentials as therapeutic targets for several clinical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer, because their activity is modulated by small molecules. 5. 5. A novel principle for immunomodulator delivery with hematopoietic cells as vehicles Focus on soluble TNF-receptor gene expression, targeting to secretory lysosomes and regulated secretion

    Författare :Ying Gao; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Haematology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; neutrophil; granule; secretory lysosome; sorting; phagocytosis; degranulation.; mast cell; hematopoietic cell; inflammation; soluble TNF receptor;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this research is to use hematopoietic cells as vehicles for targeting transgenic immunomodulators to the inflammatory sites. The work presented was focused on the anti-inflammatory soluble TNF receptor. A transmembrane soluble TNF receptor (sTNFR1) construct was expressed in hematopoietic cell lines. LÄS MER
