  1. 21. Diagnostic and prognostic value of proteinuria in chronic renal diseases

    Författare :Omran Bakoush; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urology; Hypertension.; Glomerulonephritis; IgM; Albuminuria; Diabetic Nephropathy; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : To the extent that increased urinary protein excretion is an indicator of alterations of the glomerular capillary wall (GCW) and appearance of tubulointerstitial damage, proteinuria can be a good marker of the overall severity of the glomerular and tubulointerstitial damage, and therefore, the prognosis of glomerular diseases. Studies I, II, and III show that it is the type of proteinuria, rather than the degree of albuminuria, that predicts the progression in renal, proteinuric diseases. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Altered sleep/wake patterns and circadian rhythms : laboratory and field studies of sympathoadrenomedullary and related variables

    Författare :Torbjörn Åkerstedt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Six studies on sleep/wake patterns and circadian rhythms were  carried out. In summary: (1) Adrenaline excretion, self-rated activation,  and body temperature rhythms persisted during sleep  deprivation, resisted adjustment to rotating shift work, but adjusted  rather well to permanent night work. 3. 23. In vivo Pharmacokinetics of Two New Thrombin Inhibitor Prodrugs : Emphasis on Intestinal and Hepatobiliary Disposition and the Influence of Interacting Drugs

    Författare :Elin Matsson; Hans Lennernäs; Lars Knutson; Ulf Eriksson; Kim Brouwer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Direct thrombin inhibitors; prodrugs; ximelagatran; AZD0837; erythromycin; ketoconazole; drug-drug interactions; hepatobiliary transport; biliary clearance; ATP-binding cassette; ABC transporters; solute carriers; SLC transporters; CYP3A4; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; Biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Biliary excretion is an important elimination route for many drugs and metabolites. For such compounds, it is important to know the extent of excretion and drug exposure in the bile, e.g., for the risk assessment of drug interactions, liver toxicity and the effects of genetic variants. 4. 24. Psychobiological 24-hour patterns : theory, methods and summary of empirical studies

    Författare :Jan E. Fröberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim of this work was to study the characteristics of 24-hour patterns in various performance functions, in subjective wakefulness, and in physiological variables-their temporal interrelationships and correlation with individual habits. Human subjects were isolated in groups under controlled conditions, and were deprived of sleep for 72 hours. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Elimination of caffeine metabolites in man

    Författare :Nikolaos Rodopoulos; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :C8-oxidation capillary elearophoresis dimethylxanthines high-performance liquidchromatography liver cirrhosis N-acetylation N-demethylation monomethylurates monomethylxanthines;

    Sammanfattning : Plasma, saliva and urinary caffeine (CA), paraxanthine (PX), theobromine (TB), theophylline (TP) and their metabolites were, after separation into fractions by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), quantitated by capillary electrophoresis (CE). In healthy adults, 96% of the total amount of excreted compounds derived from CA were dimethylxanthines (DMXs) and metabolites, the remainder 4% being nonmetabolized CA and its non-demethylated urate.
