  1. 1. The short, excited life of tellurium : Lifetime analysis of excited states in the Te midshell region

    Författare :Ebba Ahlgren Cederlöf; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Johan Nyberg; Matthias Weiszflog; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma spectroscopy; lifetime measurement; lifetime; shell model; RDDS; DDCM; nuclear physics; nuclear structure; gamma spektroskopi; livstidsmätningar; livstid; skalmodellen; RDDS; DDCM; kärnfysik; kärnstruktur; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, lifetimes of low lying excited states in the midshell region of tellurium isotopes are discussed. The nuclear lifetimes are interesting properties to study, since they are inversely proportional to the transition probabilities, which contain information on the underlying structure of the nucleus. 2. 2. Tuning of the Excited State Properties of Ruthenium(II)-Polypyridyl Complexes

    Författare :Maria Abrahamsson; Leif Hammarström; Hans-Christian Becker; Russell Schmehl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physical chemistry; Artificial photosynthesis; Ruthenium II ; Bistridentate complexes; Excited state lifetime; Linear donor-photosenstizer-acceptor arrays; Temperature dependence; Excited state decay; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Processes where a molecule absorbs visible light and then converts the solar energy into chemical energy are important in many biological systems, such as photosynthesis and also in many technical applications e.g. photovoltaics. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Transient State Fluorescence Microscopy - method development and biological applications : Exploiting the dark states of fluorophores to measure oxygen concentrations, redox state, Förster resonance energy transfer and membrane viscosity

    Författare :Thiemo Spielmann; Jerker Widengren; Karsten König; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transient States imaging TRAST ; Triplet State imaging; fluorescence microscopy; modulated excitation; triplet state; radical state; trans-cis isomerisation;

    Sammanfattning : Due to their long lifetime, triplet, redox and other transient states of fluorophores are highly sensitive to the micro-environment. Imaging their spatial distribution in biological samples can therefore help answer interesting questions about the metabolism, molecular interactions and dynamics in living cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Excited state dynamics in the strong coupling regime

    Författare :Jürgen Mony; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Strong exciton-photon coupling; Excited state dynamics; light-matter interactions; photoswitch; aggregated states;

    Sammanfattning : Strong exciton-photon coupling exhibits the possibility to modify photophysical and photochemical properties of organic molecules without changing their structure. This is due to the formation of hybrid light-matter states, called polaritons, which are created when the strong coupling regime is achieved. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Excited State Processes in Solar Energy Materials

    Författare :Tomas Österman; Kemisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar cells; Conjugated polymers; Charge transfer state; Time-resolved spectroscopy; Fluorescence; Artificial Photosynthesis; Bis-tridentate ruthenium II -complexes; Density functional theory; Quantum chemistry.;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation covers studies of excited state processes in two types of solar energy materials: alternating polyfluorene polymers and their blends with fullerenes in the active layer of plastic solar cells, and bis-tridentate RuII-polypyridyl complexes to be used as sensitizer in systems for artificial photosynthesis. The polymer:fullerene blends were studied by transient absorption and time-resolved fluorescence measurements in order to investigate the role of the charge transfer (CT) state in charge formation.
