   Sammanfattning : The value of infoming children about impending medical procedures was investigated, particularly in ægard to possible effects on anxiety, fear, noncooperation and distress in specific clinical situations: urological investigation, heart catheterization, lumbar puncture, acute appendectomy. The overall aim of the thesis was to study the effects of these routines and endeavour to find ways to improve them.Study I, an observational study, included 28 healthy newborns, assessing pain during neonatal hip examination.
