  1. 6. Lithium formate EPR dosimetry for accurate measurements of absorbed dose in radiotherapy

    Författare :Emelie Adolfsson; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Eva Lund; Håkan Gustafsson; Sara Olsson; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Peter Sharpe; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Lithium formate has shown to be a material with properties suitable for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) dosimetry, among them up to 7 times higher sensitivity compared to alanine, which is a well-established EPR detector material for dose determinations in radiotherapy.The aim of this thesis was to further investigate the properties of lithium formate and develop the dosimetry system towards applications in radiotherapy. 2. 7. From Particle-Production Cross Sections to KERMA and Absorbed Dose for the Case 96 MeV n-12C Interactions

    Författare :Bel E. Bergenwall; Ayşe Ataç; Eva Lund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Fast neutrons; En = 96 MeV; charged-particle production; 12C n; px ; 12C n; dx ; 12C n; tx ; 12C n; 3Hex ; 12C n; ax reactions; cross sections; KERMA; microscopic measurements; absorbed dose; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron-carbon interactions have been studied with a focus on charged-particle production of relevance to radiation protection and medical applications, such as cancer therapy. The measurements have been performed using the particle-detection setup, MEDLEY, and the 96 MeV neutron beam at the The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Quantitative Magnetic Resonance in Diffuse Neurological and Liver Disease

    Författare :Olof Dahlqvist Leinhard; Peter Lundberg; Anne-Marie Landtblom; Marcel Warntjes; Eva Lund; Göran Starck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is one of the most important diagnostic tools in modern medicine. Compared to other imaging modalities, it provides superior soft tissue contrast of all parts of the body and it is considered to be safe for patients. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Chewing gum and human hair as retrospective dosimeters

    Författare :Axel Israelsson; Håkan B.L. Pettersson; Eva Lund; Håkan Gustafsson; Mats Eriksson; Bastian Breustedt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Retrospective dosimeters are sometimes needed after radiological/nuclear (RN) exposures to determine the doses to individuals. Conventional dosimeters may not be at hand or may not be applicable calling for alternative materials. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Radioluminescence : A simple model for fluorescent layers

    Författare :Jan Lindström; Eva Lund; Michael Sandborg; Gudrun Alm-Carlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Extrinsic efficiency; extinction factor; radioluminescence; modelling; Monte Carlo; optical attenuation; optimisation; particle size; phosphor; scintillator; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to present a simple model for the radiation to light conversion processes in fluorescent layers as an aid in future developments and applications. Optimisation between sensitivity and spatial resolution for fluorescent layers in digital radiology is a delicate task where the extrinsic efficiency for various phosphors needs to be established for varying parameters.
