  1. 1. Phylogenies and Secondary Chemistry in Arnica (Asteraceae)

    Författare :Catarina Ekenäs; Katarina Andreasen; Anders Backlund; Lynn Bohs; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; phylogeny; ITS; ETS; RPB2; sesquiterpene lactones; PCA; bioassay; NF-κB; neutrophil; chloroplast; Biologi; Arnica; Asteraceae;

    Sammanfattning : The genus Arnica (Asteraceae) was investigated for phylogenetic relationships and sesquiterpene lactone (STL) content with the aims to trace the evolutionary history of the genus and to investigate possible congruencies between DNA sequence data, secondary chemistry, and biological activity. Complex evolutionary patterns in Arnica are evident from phylogenetic analyses of chloroplast regions (the rpl16 and rps16 introns and the psbA–trnH, ycf4–cemA, and trnT–L spacers), nuclear ribosomal regions (the internal and external transcribed spacers) and the nuclear low-copy DNA region coding for the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB2) between exons 17 and 23. 2. 2. Passive Smoking in Children : The Importance of Parents’ Smoking and Use of Protective Measures

    Författare :AnnaKarin Johansson; Johnny Ludvigsson; Arne Halling; Göran Hermansson; Stefan Janson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ETS; infant; child; cotinine; smoking behaviour; protective measures; parents; home; tobacco; child health care; ABIS; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Passive smoking has been recognised as a health hazard, and chidren are especially vulnerable. The general aim of this thesis was to describe and analyse the importance of parents’ smoking and smoking behaviour for children’s tobacco smoke exposure. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Instruments for reaching climate objectives. Focusing on the time aspects of bioenergy and allocation rules in the European Union's Emission Trading System

    Författare :Lars Zetterberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate Policy; Climate Impacts; European Union; Bioenergy; Forest residues; Carbon dioxide; Radiative Forcing; Peat; EU ETS; Emissions Trading; Allocation; Incentives; Benchmarking;

    Sammanfattning : The Europeans Union’s (EU’s) climate and energy strategy aims at reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) by 20 % (compared to 1990) and to increase the share of renewable energy to 20 % by the year 2020. Increased use of bioenergy is considered key in these efforts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interactions between carbon and power markets in transition

    Författare :Jörn Constantin Richstein; Mehrdad Ghandhari Alavijh; Margot P.C. Weijnen; Laurens J. de Vries; Remco Verzijlbergh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EU ETS; carbon market; investment; electricity; agent-based modelling; EMLab-Generation; price floor; price ceiling; price corridor; market stabil- ity reserve; MSR; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : In this research, several improvements to the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) were analysed. The EU ETS is a market for emission allowances and the European Union's main instrument for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (of which CO2 is the main component). LÄS MER

  5. 5. European Energy Policy in Transition: Critical Aspects of Emissions Trading

    Författare :Markus Wråke; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Energy policy; climate policy; carbon dioxide; climate change; emissions trading; EU ETS; efficiency; distributional effects; closures; new entrants; electricity; allocation; auctions; carbon leakage; competitiveness; peat; radiative forcing;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching theme of the thesis is European energy and climate policy, with a particular focus on the role of emissions trading. The thesis consists of eight papers. Paper 1 outlines the origins and characteristics of the European Union’s Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), launched in January 2005. LÄS MER
