16. Estimation and optimal designs for multi-response Emax models
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns optimal designs and estimation approaches for a class of nonlinear dose response models, namely multi-response Emax models. These models describe the relationship between the dose of a drug and two or more efficacy and/or safety variables. LÄS MER
17. The Non-Linear Instantaneous Least Squares Approach to Signal Parameter Estimation
Sammanfattning : Estimation of parameters of non-stationary signals observed in noise is a challenging and difficult task, motivated by applications such as radar and mobile tele-communication. Here, a novel method for signal parameter estimation named the Non-linear Instantaneous Least Squares (NILS) approach is presented, which can be applied to linear and non-linear signals, and to both uniformly and non-uniformly sampled data. 18. Contributions to Small Area Estimation : Using Random Effects Growth Curve Model
Sammanfattning : This dissertation considers Small Area Estimation with a main focus on estimation and prediction for repeated measures data. The demand of small area statistics is for both cross-sectional and repeated measures data. LÄS MER
19. Nonparametric Statistical Inference for Entropy-type Functionals
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we study statistical inference for entropy, divergence, and related functionals of one or two probability distributions. Asymptotic properties of particular nonparametric estimators of such functionals are investigated. We consider estimation from both independent and dependent observations. LÄS MER
20. Modeling and Sampling of Spectrally Structured Signals
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers concerned with the modeling of stochastic signals, as well as deterministic signals in stochastic noise, exhibiting different kinds of structure. This structure is manifested as the existence of finite-dimensional parameterizations, and/or in the geometry of the signals' spectral representations. LÄS MER
