  1. 1. Studies of Eosinophil Cationic Protein (ECP) in vivo and in vitro : Impact of Genetic and Posttranslational Modifications

    Författare :Jenny Eriksson; Per Venge; Agneta Trulson; Ester Boix; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biomedicine; Eosinophil granulocyte; granular protein; ECP; gene polymorphism; cytotoxicity; SELDI-TOF MS; glycosylation; molecular and functional heterogeneity; fibrosis; Biomedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Eosinophil granulocytes are tissue dwelling leukocytes that are implicated in host defence, particularly against helminthic parasites; they also participate in most inflammatory disorders. Although eosinophils have important roles in host defence mechanisms, their actions can also be harmful to the host as in the allergic inflammation where lung epithelium is destructed due to the release of toxic granule proteins. Författare :Ludvig Eriksson; Kalman Szabo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; carborane; isoquinoline; PK11195; peripheral bensodiazepine receptor; Cu I Iodide; iodinated carborane; palladium; isotopic exchange; Herrmann’s Catalyst; Heck reaction; Suzuki-Miyaura reaction; cross coupling; arylation; olefination; 125-iodine; radiolabelling; carboraneboronic ester; BNCT; 2-iodo-; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of copper and palladium to mediate transformations of carboranes, especially p-carborane.1-(1-p-carboranyl)-N-methyl-N-(2-butyl)-3-isoquinolinecarboxamide, a carborane containing analogue of the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR) ligand PK11195, has been synthesised. 3. 3. Preclinical Development of New Alkylating Oligopeptides for Cancer Therapy

    Författare :Joachim Gullbo; Rolf Larsson; Peter Nygren; Staffan Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacology; pharmacology; oncology; chemistry; Melphalan derivatives; Farmakologi; Pharmacological research; Farmakologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : Oligopeptides can be used to carry cytotoxic agents in cancer chemotherapy, using tumour-associated proteins as the molecular target for selectivity. During the seventies and eighties Peptichemio, a cocktail of six alkylating oligopeptides carrying m-L-sarcolysin, was investigated in a wide variety of human malignancies. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and derivatives thereof are widely usedprodrugs in treatment of pre-malignant skin diseases of the cancer treatmentmethod photodynamic therapy (PDT). The target molecule in 5-ALAPDTis protoporphyrin IX (PpIX), which is synthesized endogenously from5-ALA via the heme pathway in the cell. LÄS MER
