  1. 16. Toxicological and Chemical Characterization of Organic Pollutants with Potential to Adversely Affect Fish

    Författare :Henrik Sundberg; Lennart Balk; Dag Broman; Tracy Collier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Several investigations have described adverse effects in fish inhabiting polluted areas, though the causative, or aetiologic compounds have not been substantiated. Since environmental pollutants exist as complex mixtures, reliable risk estimations are difficult to obtain. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Anadromous Pike in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Olof Engstedt; Per Larsson; Henrik Svedäng; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marine ecology; Marin ekologi; Natural Science; Naturvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The pike (Esox lucius) is a major predator and top-down regulator in the Baltic Sea where it exists in two sympatric forms. One spawn in streams and rivers and the other one spawn in the sea. During the last decades, the habitats for both of these forms have developed in a negative way. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Fish on drugs : behaviour modifying contaminants in aquatic ecosystems

    Författare :Annelie Lagesson; Jonatan Klaminder; Tomas Brodin; Kathryn Arnold; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aquatic ecosystems; Behavioural effects; Ecotoxicology; Endocrine disruptors; Pharmaceuticals; Interaction effects; ekotoxikologi; Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Contamination of surface waters is a worldwide problem. One group of emerging contaminants that reach aquatic ecosystems via sewage treatment plant effluents and agricultural run-offs is pharmaceuticals. LÄS MER

  4. 19. ³²P-postlabelling analysis of DNA adducts in fish as a biomarker of genotoxic exposure

    Författare :Gunilla Ericson; Tracy K Collier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : The 32P-postlabelling assay was used for analysis of hydrophobic DNA adducts in fish as a biomarker of genotoxic exposure. DNA adducts were analysed in perch (Perca fluviatilis) and northern pike (Esox lucius), two relatively stationary fish species which are common in Swedish freshwater systems and along the Baltic coast.
