  1. 21. Energy-Efficient Digital Signal Processing for Fiber-Optic Communication Systems

    Författare :Christoffer Fougstedt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Digital Signal Processing; Forward Error Correction; Fiber Optic Communication; Application Specific Integrated Circuits; Communication Systems; Non-linear Impairment Mitigation;

    Sammanfattning : Modern fiber-optic communication systems rely on complex digital signal processing (DSP) and forward error correction (FEC), which contribute to a significant amount of the over-all link power dissipation. Bandwidth demands are evergrowing and circuit technology scaling will due to fundamental reasons come to an end; energy-efficient design of DSP is thus necessary both from a sustainability perspective and a technical perspective. 2. 22. High-Throughput Power-Efficient DSP for Fiber-Optic Communication Systems

    Författare :Christoffer Fougstedt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Non-linear Impairment Mitigation; Application Specific Integrated Circuits; Forward Error Correction; Fiber Optic Communication; Digital Signal Processing; Communication Systems;

    Sammanfattning : Communication networks are a vital backbone of the modern society. Power dissipation of optical communication links and digital signal processing (DSP) subsystems for these links are a major concern as throughput requirements increase, and the number of deployed systems grows. 3. 23. Implementation, identification, and adaptation of Preisach like hysteresis models

    Författare :Marcus Hedegärd; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hysteresis modeling; adaptive hysteresis compensation.; generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii model; Preisach model; magnetoelastic sensor;

    Sammanfattning : The extended generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii model (XGPI) of hysteresis has a wide applicability, partly because of its capability of modelling highly asymmetric hystereses. For a given parameterization, it is typically identified using non-linear least squares optimization with concomitant problems of convergence, dependence on initial parameter guess and local minima. 4. 24. High accuracy low-cost NDIR sensing

    Författare :Bakhram Gaynullin; Göran Thungström; Henrik Rödjegård; Christine Hummelgård; Claes Mattsson; David Bastviken; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NDIR; pressure calibration and compensation; resolution limits; carbon dioxide; methane; spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Sensing gas concentrations using optical absorption offers valuable advantages over other methods ina wide variety of real-world applications from industrial processes to environmental change. One of the most rapidly developing detection techniques on the global market is the non-dispersive infrared method (NDIR). LÄS MER

  5. 25. On Receiver Algorithms for OFDM Systems

    Författare :Florent Munier; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; quantisation; multicarrier modulation; Intercarrier Interference ICI ; Phase noise; Wiener process; orthogonal frequency division multiplexing OFDM ; estimation; fading channels; channel estimation; iterative decoding.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the problem of designing a receiver for an Orthogonal FrequencyDivisionMultiplexing (OFDM)communication system operating over fading channels, taking into account the effects of hardware imperfections. We discuss solutions for efficiently estimating the parameters of a channel model and for compensating oscillator phase noise and analog to digital converter (ADC) quantisation errors at the receiver.
