1. Experimental studies in brain tumours : with special regard to multidrug resistance and the ErbB-family
Sammanfattning : Primary brain tumours, and especially the most common form malignant gliomas, usually display a pronounced resistance to other treatment modalities when surgery fails to cure. Growth factors, such as EGF and its receptor, frequently amplified and overexpressed in malignant gliomas, and factors associated with multidrug resistance have been suggested to at least partially explain the poor outcome. 2. Expression and prognostic value of LRIG1 and the EGF-receptor family in renal cell and prostate cancer
Sammanfattning : The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family consists of four (EGFR, ErbB2, Erbb3, and ErbB4) receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK) whose signalling is important for physiological and malignant cellular functions such as proliferation, survival, migration, and differentiation. EGFR and ErbB2 in particular are established oncogenes in many solid tumours and are targets for anti-cancer treatment. LÄS MER
3. Staphylococcal surface display in directed evolution
Sammanfattning : Engineered affinity proteins have together with naturally derived antibodies becomeindispensable tools in many areas of life-science and with the increasing number ofapplications, the need for high-throughput methods for generation of such different affinityproteins is evident. Today, combinatorial protein engineering is the most successful strategy toisolate novel non-immunoglobulin affinity proteins. LÄS MER
4. The leukocyte complexity and mutational landscape of periampullary adenocarcinoma. Morphology matters
Sammanfattning : Background: Periampullary adenocarcinomas are a heterogenous group of tumours with poor prognosis that hasnot improved considerably the last decades. Tumour morphology, i.e. intestinal type (I-type) or pancreatobiliarytype (PB-type), has been demonstrated to be a more relevant prognostic factor than anatomical origin. LÄS MER
5. On traumatic lesion to the spinal cord and dorsal spinal roots : factors influencing axonal regrowth across the border between the central and peripheral nervous system in the rat and man
Sammanfattning : Nerve cells are depending on their environment. Glial cells, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes in the central nervous system (CNS) make up a totally different milieu and characteristics than the distinguishing qualities of the peripheral nervous system (PNS), where the nerve cells are surrounded by Schwann cells.
