  1. 16. Control of Epstein-Barr virus infection by cytotoxic T lymphocytes

    Författare :Pedro-Otavio de Campos-Lima; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epstein-Barr virus; Cytotoxic T lymphocytes; T cell receptor; CTLescape mutants;

    Sammanfattning : Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) play a critical role in response to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a widespread human herpes virus that persists in healthy carriers as a latent infection of B cells and is implicated in the pathogenesis of lymphoid and epithelial cell malignancies. Six virus encoded nuclear antigens, EBNA1-6, and three membrane proteins, LMP1, -2A and -2B, are regularly detected in EBV transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs). LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Background: Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN)comprises a large group of tumours including the oral cavity and nasopharyngealarea, and typically affects older males in association with alcohol/tobacco usage.Within the oral cavity, the mobile tongue is the most common site for tumourdevelopment. 3. 18. Epstein-Barr virus gene methylation and variation in latency

    Författare :Kerstin I Falk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus is a human herpesvirus and approximately 95 % of the adults carry the virus in a latent form. EBV has been implicated in the pathogenesis of human malignancies such as Burkitt's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. DNA methylation is one of the mechanisms that is involved in control of gene expression in viruses. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Epstein-Barr virus latency in vivo and in vitro

    Författare :Jie-Zhi Zou; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I studied 1) The latency situation of Epstein- Barr virus (EBV) in bone marrow transplanted (BMT) patients and healthy virus carriers. 2) The role of EBNA1 and cellular transcriptional factors Oct and Grg/TLE family in EBV latency switch. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) latent membrane protein (LMP) 2A

    Författare :Fu Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human herpes virus which infects more than 90% of individuals in the population and is causally implicated in lymphoid and epithelial malignancies. Virus invades oropharyngeal mucosa and establishes latency in memory B lymphocytes. LÄS MER
