21. Clonidine in paediatric anaesthesia : pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects
Sammanfattning : Clonidine is a mixed alpha-2/alpha-1 adrenoceptor agonist. It reduces sympathetic and increases parasympathetic tone which results in a lowering of the baseline blood pressure and heart rate. LÄS MER
22. Intravenous morphine after gynecological surgery : pain relief, endocrine and immune respone
Sammanfattning : Background: We need more efficient methods to alleviate postoperative pain and reduce endocrine / immune stress response. Subjects and methods: Patient controlled analgesia (PCA) with iv morphine was evaluated with respect to pain relief and endocrine / immune response to surgical trauma in 130 patients undergoing gynecological surgery. 24. Central-block techniques for reliet of labour pain
Sammanfattning : Access to effective pain relief is today a natural part of modem obstetrics. When epidurals for relief of labour pain were introduced during the 1970s, local anaesthetics in high concentrations were used. This caused extensive motor block, affecting propulsive ability during second stage, with increased risk of caesarean and instrumental delivery. LÄS MER
25. Costs and consequences in perioperative care : analytic models in studies on pain treatment and on haemodynamic optimization of elderly patients
Sammanfattning : Background: Because resources are scarce in health care, costs and consequences of new interventions must be assessed to support informed policy decisions. This thesis analyses the cost-effectiveness of advanced postoperative pain treatment and perioperative haemodynamic optimization by applying decision modelling as an analytic framework. 1. LÄS MER
