  1. 21. Advancing prospective life cycle assessment -Experiences from guiding carbon fibre composite development

    Författare :Frida Hermansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; climate impact; Life cycle assessment; prospective; carbon fibre composites; energy use;

    Sammanfattning : Life cycle assessment is a powerful tool for quantifying the environmental impacts of goods and services. While most easily done for well-defined and known product systems, there is also a need for a prospective (that is, a future-orientated) approach to assessing developing technologies. LÄS MER

  2. 22. A Deep Dive into Sediments : Exploring approaches to assess environmental risks and achieving environmental goals in management of contaminated sediments in Sweden

    Författare :Peter Bruce; Clare Bradshaw; Yvonne Ohlsson; Anna Sobek; Sabine Apitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sediment; risk assessment; risk evaluation; risk management; contaminants; regulations; weight of evidence; line of evidence; environmental goals; environmental management; guidelines; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Contaminated sediments are common, especially near urban and industrialized areas, and they can have negative ecological effects. In three studies, I explore the challenges for environmental management of contaminated sediments, focusing on environmental risk assessment (ERA) in Sweden. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Renewable Energy and Nutrient Valorization from Anaerobic Digestion : Resource-Efficient Solutions

    Författare :Sandra Carlos-Pinedo; Zhao Wang; Ola Eriksson; Shveta Soam; Henrik Wenzel; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid-state anaerobic digestion; methane yield; digestate; systems analysis; modelling; life cycle assessment; Torrötning; metanutbyte; biogödsel; systemanalys; modellering; livscykelanalys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a comprehensive analysis aimed at understanding process performance, methane yield, and key influencing factors within the context of solid-state anaerobic digestion (SS-AD). SS-AD is used to treat organic material with high solids content, which can be challenging to address by alternative methods. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Assessing Soil Functions for Sustainable Remediation of Contaminated Sites

    Författare :Yevheniya Volchko; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soil ecosystem services; Contaminated sites soil; minimum data set; remediation; sustainability assessment; soil quality indicators; soil functions;

    Sammanfattning : Soil contamination is a worldwide problem. Soil remediation is often carried out to reduce the risks posed by contaminants in the soil to human health and environment. Contaminant concentration is typically the only soil quality aspect maintained in remediation projects. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Environmental Assessments of Landscape Changes : Interdisciplinary studies in rural Tanzania

    Författare :Louise Simonsson; Lennart Strömquist; Annika Dahlberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geography; Environmental assessment; interdisciplinary methodology; landscape; perceptions; preferences; land; forest; miombo woodlands; resources; biodiversity; Tanzania; Geografi; Other earth sciences; Övrig geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to show how biogeophysical and social processes are interlinked in landscape change, and to propose approaches for interdisciplinary environmental assessments (such as EIAs), concentrating on developing countries’ situations, and representation of findings from such studies. Landscape in its holistic sense is a very good concept and basis for intellectual and practical use in environmental dialogues. LÄS MER
